Ds6 is sound asleep since it is 3:30 am here. His site went bad sometime around midnight, so I have given humalog via injection and done a site change. I checked for ketones at midnight and he was negative, but he had trace ketones at 2am. His numbers are coming down, but he's exhausted and I hate to wake him to make him go pee with only trace. He started crying and fell back asleep when I tried to make him drink something at 2am. We've had a very busy few days with family members from out of state coming to visit (one group left and another has arrived), so he is just tired beyond belief. Can I let him sleep or do I need to get some liquids in him?

I really hate nights like this.:(

We've had nights like too and I hated waking Rachel. I wished for the days when she would suck anything (even water) through a baby bottle in her sleep.
If you're happy with the way his numbers are dropping I would probably leave him to sleep, but check again in a couple of hours - hopefully someone else will be getting up then, so you can get a couple of hours sleep. Its not long until daybreak:rolleyes:
Maybe time to invest in a blood ketone meter?:(

I hope you and your visitors have a great time :)

Thank you. I just needed confirmation that I was not commiting some terrible offense by letting him sleep. I normally would wake him, but as I said, we have been over-run with family and are all so very tired from all the entertaining. Luckily, everyone else in my family is sound asleep.

Yes, daybreak is quickly approaching and we have plans to go to the lake today with the family that is still with us. Do you think I could ski and sleep at the same time??? ;)

Yes, you should sleep. He should sleep. Sorry I couldn't answer at the time you needed. My guess is all is well by now. Hang in...Linda
