Well, ok, maybe half of it was because of Grace's pump start. I got up about 5:40, and got Grace up at 6. We were supposed to have Mercy to my Dad's by 7, to get to her appointment for her pump start at 8. We were quite late, between road construction, stopping for restroom use, and avoiding the same construction on our way out of town. However the actual appointment went great-- she didn't have any qualms about her site insertion. We checked her blood sugar quite frequently (11x yesterday), and for the most part it was right on target. Dr. will help us get everything tweaked and individualized before we move, obviously we have to wait a couple of days to get any patterns formed.
In the afternoon, amidst Lane being online and my prepping dinner/washing dishes, etc, Mercy went into our room and poured the remaining half of a bottle of massage oil onto our bed and pillows. Ruined our (non-washable) mattress pad, which is the only thing that enables Lane to sleep on our bed comfortably. Our whole bedroom stinks like the oil now. The scent was ok in small doses, but half the bottle is quite overwhelming! (btw, this is quite reminiscent of Grace doing the exact same thing at the exact same age, except instead of our bed, it was a treasured candle lamp, which I just recently figured out how to clean!)
I konked out by 10 pm. Normally staying up till 12 lately...
About 12:30, I checked Grace's sugar again (it had been 302 at bedtime, I'd given her a bolus and was checking to make sure she was coming back down ok). She was down to 222, and I took her to the bathroom (she's still struggling with wetting the bed). That's when Lane walked in and said he'd just taken her 20 minutes ago!
Soon after, Mercy woke up and was up for about an hour trying to convince us it was time for play. Finally got her back to bed..
Woke up about 4:30 this morning, I was cramping so hard I thought for sure AF had arrived, finally. I was actually dreaming about it-- sad, eh? But nothing yet, and it's now approaching 60 days since my last. Grrrrr, I just want it to be over with already instead of playing this waiting game!
Walking out of the bathroom I hear wailing amidst the noise of every fan in our house running. Go check on Grace and see she had wet the bed and was very upset about it. She was so cute trying to hold her pump up, making sure it wasn't getting wet. I got her up, cleaned and changed her (and the bed), checked her sugar again--188-- and we talked for a bit. Back to sleep again!
Mercy arrived in our bed at 7 this morning to greet us... I hoped she would fall asleep, but got nothing from her except kicks in the behind. So up I was... and that was my past 24+ hours!
Whew! I want a nap! Instead, I'm headed for more coffee. :D But I'm very happy with Grace's pump start thus far! We had the EMLA cream, but I didn't tell her about it, since I didn't want to use it if we didn't have to. She's always been great about not complaining about her shots, and even if one hurt, I had explained to her right from the beginning that we had to stick with it (because what if we took it out and drew up another, that one might hurt too, etc, let's just 'get it over with')-- she's SUCH a trooper! And she LOVES her pump!
