BG Test strips HELP!!!

Hi I have just been told by my doctor that they will no longer be prescribing test strips under the NHS and that we have to now buy them? they can cost up to ?27.00 this is crazy surely. I was told by my doctors that the PCT in Hounslow Middlesex have told all GP surgery's to no longer put test strips on prescription. Is anyone else having this problem? Maybe this is another saving tactic of the government?

well I hope I have not alarmed anybody, I think or I hope this is just my silly GP surgery being funny. After talking with practice manager she is going to look into this and get back to me. but if anybody has had any problems with this please let me know. :)

Not heard anything about this in Bristol. I expect your doctor has got this wrong, especially for type 1's where test strips are vital to maintain good control. Mind you, I wouldn't put it past this new government!

They could never do this.. They might have got type 1 and type 2 confused.
