Hello, All!
My son's AIC was a 7.5! :) Down from 8.9 in May and 9.9 in January:(. So I guess, we're doing good! My son is 16 has had t1d since he was 11 y.o. and currently, is being very responsible and cautious about his daily D care. He pretty much does everything on his own. Of course, I ask him about his #'s every couple of days, but I have to give him the majority of the credit on this one ;)
Just wanted to brag a bit...

Congrats, that's a nice a1C!!! Congrats to your son for managing his diabetes on his own!

That's excellent! My son was diagnosed at 11 also and will be 16 in Nov. We have had some challenges this past quarter so I'm not optimistic about his A1C, but I think his growth and hormones are reaking havoc on his numbers. Seems we've been making daily adjustments to his basal. Oh well, we've tried. Keep up the good work!

Congrats! I hope my 14 yo gets more responsible with his care by the time he is 16 - or even sooner would be nice :0). Any tips on how to get him to do that?

I wish I had a magic formula to share with you all, but unfortunately I don't. Believe me, we have been on a roller coaster with Javier in regards to his d care. One thing that I can think of, in our case, is the fact that we have another son who was diagnosed 3+ years after Javier. His little brother looks up to him and I feel Javier feels a responsibility to set a good example. All I can say is don't give up, offer as much support as you can and pray, pray, pray....:)
