We were stuck in New York traffic, and we were afraid that she will be late for for her call time at the theater. So I told her to measure her BG - while I was driving, to see if she needed any insulin before her dinner sandwich.

We are still working with a sliding scale, and her doctor does not want her to drop too low, when she is on stage, so sometimes she does not need any insulin at dinner time.

But of course she needed some tonight, suddenly Jen decided to give the shot (with a pen) herself, and to my surprise she had no problem doing it - I can not tell you how proud I was of her:cwds: Up to today she always said that she thinks she can never give herself a shot!!

Awesome

congrats!!! thats great- i still remember the day my little girl gave herself her first shot- i was very proud of her. She even learned to give herself the lantus shot in her backside last month, but due to recent stresses at home, she has stopped doing the lantus shot and is only giving herself 2 of her novolog shots a day.. i was told it is common when kids have stress that they sometimes stop giving themselves shots...

Congratulations jen! :)

thank you all so much for the congrats, all our kids are great and special!

yes, she is in TCP on Broadway - brag;) and she plays Young Celie, Misters Daughter, Young Olivia and Henrietta. She does the show 8 times a week and she absolutly loves it. I think the show helped her not to get depressed over her dx, 3 days after she was released from the hospital she was back doing her show. Of course at first my husband and I were a little scared about her collapsing on stage, so we went to see the show again, and you guys can imagine how emotional this was for me, a couple a days earlier she was in the ICU and I was so scared. In one scene, where she plays Henrietta, something is wrong with her blood, when they were talking about that in the show, I could not stop crying, because it hit so close to home.

But now, two month after dx, I still cry during the show, but not because of Jen, but because Fantasia does such a great job as Celie, and takes me on that emotinal journey.

Jen, just told me to tell you guys, that she also gave herself the first Levemir today!

Everybody, have the best summer day ever:)

Ellen, that is great that you come to NYC and see the show - you will love it. Let me know what day you will see the show, then I will let her know. Will you get the tickets early in the morning at the theater? Unforunatley I don't get the tickets cheaper, however I have a code, where you can get the tickets online for $25 less. If you are interessted let me know. Are you coming to the show with kids?
