OK.. So we ended up at doc's today .. Here is a brief update Last friday charlize started to get a rash.. still had it on sunday, and started fevers and a tummy thing again.. was going to take to a pediatric urgent care, but it was still several hours till it opend so i called oncall doc instead... WE agreeed its a viral thing.. just watch........ I have done my own research and stuff and decided this is FIFTHs disease.... Today she still is covered head to toe in lacy type rash all over.. she looks like a little tomatoe... :( poor girl.. We called doc's again, they wanted her in... WE took her.. and yes she has FIFTHS disease.. ok nothing we can do.. her pediatricia says she is no longer contagious and they have no concerns on the fact she will have surgery in 6 dyas now....... SO i called the ent doc's and talked to the nurses there.. told them what is going on and that she is not having any problems or illness any longer,. just the rash.. and she is not contagiouse.. The nurse has to talk to the doctor.. he wont be in till friday.. WE are not sure if he wil still alow her to have the surgery.... IM soo upset.. SHE better get to have it.. She never gets a break... What do i have to do keep her in a bubble.. SHe is getting her tonsiles and adnoids out due to how often she got sick with strep throat and in general.. we are hopeing this will help.. NOW this.... And her stupid pedi office says this rash can last up to 5 weeks.... WE are supposed to go to diabetes camp in mid july and then to visit my family who has not seen the kids in 1.5 years.. if the surgery gets post poned we wont be able to go,... SINce she cant travel for 2 weeks after surgery and we will get back after 7/20 and she will then start school a few weeks after that ( begging of august) And on top of all this no one wants to be around us.. I dont blame them... they are not scared of getting this from Charlize, but from my son.. becuase this illness you are contagiouse upto 10-14 days prior to the rash starting.. you have no symptoms.. once the rash starts you are no longer contagiouse.. SO BASICALLY WHEN YOU HAVE NO CLUE YOU HAVE THIS THING........UUUUGHHHH. its 110 here today.. supposed to be 114 tomarrow.. we cant even go swimming right now to cool down till this thing is GONE. any one wants to join my pitty party... if you all cant tell i am a bit frusterated... and i have been loosing weight up untill this last month and due to stress i can loose any more regardless of how much i try.. im stuck.. I was doing great till school got out and all this with hospitals, tummy bugs and surgersy started.....
UUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I hate this.. this sucks...
I hope you guys catch some breaks soon! how awful to have this happening right at the start of summer break. take care:)

Okay... how much saran wrap do you think you'd need to build a "bubble" around your house? I'd be happy to buy you a roll or two. Heck, I'll even travel out to help you. I'd love to visit Arizona. :)
My goodness. My heart truly goes out to you. You two girls have dealt with so much. Your daughter is VERY lucky to have you.
I wish I had some words of wisdom~ but all I can do is listen and try and relate. I have your email written down at home in case I ever have some diabetic sickness questions. Your helping others and you probably don't even realize it.
I'll be thinking of you, I hope the surgery goes as planned, and I hope things start looking up!!!! Keep us updated.

Hey Chandra,
You just can't catch a break, can you? Dang. {{{{{hugs**********
Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help, other than come fly over your neighborhood with a giant Lysol can disinfecting everything around. :D
I'm sorry you can't go swim...how about throwing the kids in the tub and dumping some ice cube trays in it....or turn on the sprinklers and run around in the backyard? Might be a little cooler, anyhow....
Fingers crossed on no more delays and no more problems -
:)

I just had 2 with 5th's disease about one month ago. The rash lasted for about 2-3 weeks for them. Both are non D, fyi. Anyhow they put one of mine on prednisone, her face swelled up about 3 times it's normal size, and she cleared up alot faster than my son did. Funny thing, I took them into see the pediatrician 3 times and none of them said 5th's, it wasn't until I took them to the dermatologist that instantly he said, oh, it's 5ths (also called slap cheek). Keeping her as cool as possible is the best thing, both my kids flared up in any type of heat. There is also a prednisone topical cream they prescribed for them , it worked wonders. I know prednisone is a big one and I have no clue if diabetics can take it, but she only had to take it for 5 days and it made all the difference in the world.

Sorry Chandra, hopefully the doc will see it your way...Maybe your Ped could send him a note that she's not contagous??? I thought it was worth mentioning that my son Seth also had his tonsils out...He had strep for 5 months. After surgery he got it in his bottom, twice. They had to make an adult antibiotic into a liquid to finally get rid of the strep. Weird huh?
Good Luck, I hope everything works out for you and your family...
