Hi all

Eoin is on the pump for a week and a half now, so far it;s been a god-send, especially as he got the winter vomiting bug..it was so much easier to manage...but, and there's always a but, the last 2 nights the pump got blocked, he's just turned 2 and like most 2 year olds does not sleep in one position, he bounces around the cot all night, anyone any suggestion on best way to prevent, blocks kinks at night??? Is it the way the tubing is stored especially as it's so long compared to his body?

Slso having fierce problems with air bubbles..thoroughly checking the resevoir before inserting absolutely no bubbles...have at to change the site for thepast 3 nights (usually around 3 am..the joys) there are so many bubbles it looks like fizzy water ...upside though...at least Eoin doesn't notice it going in in his sleep :)

My son wears his pump in a pump pouch (looks like a small fanny pack around his waist). The tubing is kept inside the zippered pouch so it doesn't get tangled up or in the way. How is your son wearing is pump? The pump pouch makes it so much easier for using the restroom, wrestling, climbing, jumping, etc. without worrying about the pump falling off.

Also with the air bubbles -- we haven't had problems with that, but I remember during our training that it's really important to have the insulin at room temperature when filling the insulin cartridge. Air bubbles will form in the cartridge when the cold insulin warms up to room temp. in the cartridge. Maybe your already doing this, but I just thought I'd mention it.

Good luck!!

I have a clip that goes on my pump, I just attach that to my pj bottoms and I'm good. I then tuck my tubing into my pj bottoms. Hope that helps, there are so many different things people do, you just have to find what works for you!

Thnx a mill Faith and Brenda, Eoin has litttle pockets on his vest that my mam made, they're the same size as the pump pack with a velcro fastner, the tubing is stored in it at night and he can't get at it YET :)

Ye have just enlightened me the temperature of the insulin...I think we've got it...I'll let ye know how we get on

We use 'Tubeguard' for Rachels tubing - Its great - the tubing rolls up securely around it and then I clip it on Rachels pump pak belt.
We use the cartridges for insulin pens to fill the pump cartridges from, and we were taught to push the insulin from the pen cartridge into the pump cartridge using the needle cover or a pencil. That way there is no pulling on the plunger or pressure of any kind which can cause bubbles.
I hope that makes sense.
