Topic: Living with diabetes, the daily challenges facing children and families.
We meet at the Dunedin Community Center.

Joe is a healthcare professional who has lived with type 1 diabetes for over 40 years. He translates his personal experience into patient care. Joe is a nurse educator and family therapist and he specializes in assessing how family dynamics impact diabetes management.

Joe will discuss:
• Communicating effectively with spouses, children and extended family members
• What to ask - and listen for – when speaking to physicians and healthcare providers
• How to support your spouse in ways that will positively impact your child’s control and management behavior
• The special challenges of infants, youngsters and adolescents
• Recognizing and addressing the needs of your child’s siblings
• How to have a life that’s about something besides diabetes!

Our meeting is tomorrow evening. I am excited to hear Joe speak again.
He will also be at FFL next month.
