Dh just bought a boat and we are headed to the lake this weekend. Any suggestions from others with boating experience? Should we buy a waterproof bag to hold all of ds's supplies? If so, are they available at Walmart or sporting goods stores? I am terrified ds's site will get infected from the lake water, but the endo said to make sure the site is plugged and it should be fine. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I want to be as prepared as possible.

Years ago I bought waterproof zipper bags at Walmart before traveling. They have strings attached to secure to a stationary object. I found them in the camping section.
Good luck and have fun!

We have a boat and use it constantly.
I have a black insulated 2 bottle thingy from a Similac diaper bag that I use for Adin supplies. It has two pockets and a main compartment. I put an ice pack in one pocket. I put his meter, insulin, alcohol wipes, glucagon kit, glucose gel and smarties, syringes, etc in the main compartment. The other pocket I use for used syringes and alcohol wipes. I am pretty sure a pump can be kept safe inside while being untethered as well as any backup supplies. It works surprisingly well, I would suggest looking at the baby diaper bags and check out the bottle holder supplies.
If we are going to be out for more than a couple hours I put the whole bottle bag in a Ziploc bag and throw it on top of the ice in the ice chest. *it gets extremely hot here* Along with lots of water, drinks and food including carb friendly food when he is running high but hungry. I found the hydration crystal light single packets work great when I feel he needs a little something extra.
Check bg's often. Adin ran low the first couple outings but this past weekend he ran high (I suspect the excitement and adrenaline since we were with other families and watching everyone go tubing). Expect overnight numbers to be similar according to activity.
Good luck. Please report back how all goes. I am curious since Adin isn't on the pump yet
We were just out on our boat this weekend and our battery died (the backup was already dead...we probably never should have gone out in the first place). We ended up having to get towed by a friendly stranger. Fortunately it wasn't a problem as we weren't too far from our dock. But I'd recommend having emergency supplies in case of a situation like that. It wasn't that hot here (yet), so we just put my son's pump in a ziploc bag while he swam, and kept it in the shade.
Just a thought...you may want to look into a waterproof bag that will float (just in case:D)

My son went out on a boat with friends. He was actually at the dock when he pump slid from the case that he had it in into the river.......do ya know how much i hate typing that:eek:. Anyways , he called to say that he pump had fallen into the river,( here comes the gray hair faster than i really need), BUT he found it after 45 minutes of it being underwater in the muck. I think my heart stop a few times as he told me the story. SO moral of the story ......GET A FLOATING POUCH for the pump.:cwds:
