I was just wondering if anyone has upgraded to the Animas 2020 and if so do you like it (is it worth it)/or have you even received it yet? Thanks!

I'm interested in replies to this question too- we're still trying to decide.
The upgrades page is back on the website:

www.animascorp.com/customerserv/cs_ezAccess_Upgrade_Program.shtml#_msocom_1

We did get to see one briefly at a Diabetes Expo recently. Personally, I don't like the white-on-black screen, but it would help me out a lot to be able to set my own I:C ratio times, and to have the pump remember the carbs and BGs. I'm just not sure if it's worth $300 to me yet. Has anyone else gone for it?

I thought it looked cool. I'm just pissed that they want to charge me $600 to upgrade as we have had our pump for 2 years. I believe it's $300 if you had it less then 1 year. Anyway, I have new insurance which would cover a new pump - so I'm taking a peak at the Cozmore and Minimed again.

I had trouble trying to upgrade too....they promised me I would have the new pump by a certain date...(Aidan was in a need ASAP situation) and then 4 days b/f I was to get it, I finally called them and they said "Sold Out" they said they had to fill "new" customers 1st and those of us wanting to upgrade would have to wait, after all we already had a pump and there were those who didn't have one at all???????? I explained my situation AGAIN, that they had already said I could get it in time, which I had done repeatedly and they didn't seem too concerned about customer retention, we were loyal customers for 5 years!

Long story short...I hung up, immediately called Minimed and had Aidan's new pump THE NEXT DAY....seems that they understood the situation we were in, Aidan's needs and how important it was for him to have a pump ASAP.

I posted this on another thread with the same topic: http://forums.childrenwithdiabetes.com/showthread.php?p=45412&posted=1#post45412

I read about the 2020 on the Animas site when it came out, and I think they wrote that you can also record food and carb amount right in the pump, in addition to the previously mentioned improvements.

This also seems to be a big plus, as info on timing and amount of, type of carbs is the most important info missing from that data that is collected by our IR 1200 pump and Guardian CGM. The Guardian supposed to be able to collect carb amount info but we have not started using it yet.

As far as combining CGM with pump, I am not sure if it is worth waiting for. The CGMs are guaranteed for a year, so the insurance covers replacement every year. The pump can be replaced only every four years. With rapidly developing CGM technology I do not necessarily want to be tied to one company for four years with a CGM.

Also, it turned out to be very helpful with our 2.5 yr old that the CGM is separate from the pump. We can have to CGM and monitor it as we please without ever bothering him for it.

(We started CGMing only 2 weeks ago.)
