Drum roll....We are going with the Minimed Paradigm Real Time System. :cwds: Surprised?

I cant tell you how crazy I was becoming with all my comparisons. I could see the benefits of all the pumps. For example, I could see why the most popular pump among kids is the Cozmo it just seemed more kid friendly in language and alerts. The Animas has the new screen, cool alarms and small basal rate. Finally of course I think the tublessness of the Omnipod is just the bees knees.

Last week dh and I were talking about something or other about pumps when he asked "why aren't we on the pump yet?" When all the dust settled and I looked at our situation right now and not a possible pump available in the future. I had to conclude that Minimed came closest to what we want for Adin at his age and the moment. That is the CGM and software.

I emailed our Endo a long letter about what we were looking at and what we needed for Adin and she simply replied Medtronic. Doesn't get much clearer than that. :D I am happy but nervous.

I am really glad you are moving forward with the pump!!! It has made a big difference with managing Abby's diabetes - and I firmly believe being on any pump is better than MDI. We are also minimed users - and I have never regretted going with them - of course we are only a few months in:p I thought we may regret not getting the Animas because of the smaller basal settings - but this hasn't been a problem for us - and I believe that once we get the cgm it will far outweigh that factor.

We just received our newest A1C - we are now 8.3 down from an A1C done in January of 9.6 - despite starting the pump, stomach bug and pneumonia! I am sure we would have wound up in the hospital with the stomach bug if we were still MDI - that is when you really appreciate the pump!!!

Congratulations ;)

Shelley, :D

I am so happy for you. It is such a relief to make a decision. We are very happy with the MM522. Liv loves it and she finds it very user friendly as do her dad and I.

The minimed is very user friendly. My son loves the freedom he now has and so do we. He already knows how all the features work and we no longer have to be available all of the time to give him the injections.

He can now call us and we double check the pump calculations over the phone.

Congrats on making a decision. We ended up with the Animas pump and are very happy with it but I am certain we would have been happy with MM or CoZmo too...in the end, any pump is great :)...you will loooooove it!!!!!
