I was wondering as I am getting my 5 year old ready for school in the fall, is it a good idea to him and this other little girl that is on injections in the same class or would that be to hard on the teacher? I would love for them to be friends.

Is the other little girl also pumping?

I wonder if you can discuss this with the K teachers and see if one of them would take both. I think it would be great for them to be in the same class together, and they could look out for one another.

I think it would be a great idea! the class as a whole would learn so much about medical stuff in general and both of them would have a buddy - so much easier in the trasition to Kindergarden. Ask the teacher's opinon and support her as much as possible. I think it would also be good for you and the other parent to have a buddy too!

We have recently learned about another little boy here that will also be in the same class as our son when they go to school (a year from now)... I have thought this same thing - would there be benefits to having them together?? What would it be like for the teacher?? In any classroom there are kids with all different issues, so I tried to think about what I wanted from the teacher for my child. We may have the teacher wear the Guardian monitor during the school day, what if the other child had one too, what if both kids had alarms going off at the same time, or 5 minutes apart.. but, I also see the positives too - running off to the nurses station together, not being the "only one", checking bg's.. I think it would really depend on the teacher - and do the kids "like" eachother.. Not all of our D kids are going to make a connection just because they have D - do they have similar interests? Right kid connection, and right teacher - it sounds great!

The other girl is not on a pump, but she maybe by the time school is out, she just got diagnosed in Feb.
Cade does like this girl, thats a little strange because he don't like most girls, He has even asked if she could come over and play.

I think it sounds like a great idea. I wish Samantha had a friend at school with D. During first and second grade there was a boy with D, but he was 1 year behind Sam. They would always chat in the office about D. He was pumping and I think seeing him so happy with the pump was what started her thinking about switching. So maybe your son will encourage her to pump!
