I called minimed today and ordered the minilink system and they are shipping it tomorrow. I will then be trained on Thursday, this is all comming so fast, I thought that this would take at least a few weeks.
My question is, I have seen that some people are able to streatch out the sensors for longer than three days, I was just wonders how you are able to do that? If the sensor expires how are you able to make it continue to work?
thanks,
Liz

Hi, Liz! CONGRATS on making the leap to the minilink! We are new to the minilink--on week 3--and yes, the sensors can be used for 6 days. Our educator did say that the FDA only approved them for 3 days so that's what Medtronic is standing by. We've gone 6 days without a problem with the sensor itself only an issue with a rash developing around the sensor and trasmitter. We're working on this by trying different things but overall, we really like the minilink. :)
Good luck! You'll be a pro in no time!

We are using the sensors 12-15 days with no problems. On days 3 and 9 when it says sensor end, we just go to start sensor, and new sensor, then start. Within a few minutes it will ask for a meter bg, and off you go again. On days 6 and 12 when it says sensor end, you need to completely disconnect the transmitter, charge it, then connect it again, saying new sensor. If you don't disconnect on day 6, day 7 will be completely off.

Great. We love our system.
Are you getting the Guardian or the one together with the MM pump?
Good luck and keep us posted.
