This book was written by Eric Devine, who has type one diabetes, but the book is fiction. A fifteen year old boy is diagnosed, and although it accurately portrays diabetes, its rather upsetting at times.
The character Ed has bad lows where he fights and hits and punches holes in his walls, and then this is coupled with his drinking alcohol and his even more out of control.
There are also details of several fights that took place with his friends(Not related to diabetes)..and although his mother was a nurse, his parents were not that supportive. His father had some issues and was not there for Ed at all.
It ends better then it starts, but still for new diabetics it might be a bit intimidating.

I had my library order it and just finished! I loved it. Although my son is only 7 I think it would be a great book for him to read when he gets older. :)
