Can you all give me some examples of "free foods" besides sugar free popsicles and jello? Thanks

Some that we use are pickles (dill), most veggies w/ ranch (except carrots), nuts, cheese, deli meats, etc.

Pepperoni, slim jims, beef jerky, string cheese. Although be careful with the slim jims ... trans fats and all that. We go with the turkey pepperoni because there is much less fat. We also keep the fridge stocked with lunch meat (turkey and turkey pastrami mostly, but also salami) and cheese slices.

Favorite free foods are string cheese, olives, pickles, beef jerky, hard boiled eggs.

Favorite low-carb (15 g or less) snacks include: Handi-snacks, South Beach diet cookies, sugar-free jell-o brand pudding.

Totally free:
pumpkin seeds
celery
lettuce
water water tea
soup consisting of spices, oil, and water (broth)

Moderate amounts free
peanut butter (check to see if there's added sugar)
tofu products
soynut butter (like peanut butter)
unsweetened soymilk (one cup)
cucumber (less than two cucumbers)/ pickles
almonds (about 40 = 5g )
anything I can't digest
soup with spices oil, water and any of the above
broccoli
avocado (about 1= 7g)

Be careful with carrots: I have eaten about 40g carbs of carrots in a sitting. They are 1/12 carb (not including fiber) by weight, and one baby carrot is about half of a carb.

I never knew such a thing existed! Do you buy it at the regular grocery store? Walmart? (I hate Walmart, but for this I'd make an exception!)

My son's favorite snack is Pepperoni and my arteries cringe every time he opens a pack. :o

Frozen Cool Whip. Brandon likes it and they have chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. He also could eat a small container of Slim Jims a day if I would let him. He usually eats at least 6/day. YUCK! Gives me heartburn just thinking about it. He also eats cheese sometimes. He use to eat tons of it when he was dx'd, and now I think he is burnt out on it.

Hormel brand, it is generally on the same rack as the regular, says Turkey in yellow. I get mine at the local grocery store, I don't recall seeing it all Walmart so you're off the hook!

Yep, as Wendyc said, regular ol' grocery store (King Soopers here, but probably Kroger elsewhere). I won't shop at Walmart.

string cheese

celery W/ ranch
sugar free jello w/ whipped cream

We fill up the bottom drawer of the fridge with his free-bees and he knows if I say no to other foods he can get something out of "his Drawer".

We live on hard boiled eggs, string cheese, Breyers Carb Smart Ice Cream Bars (9g in a bar and really good!) and little cottage cheese cups (6 g a cup). Right on the edge of free are the SugarFree Jello Pudding Cups that are pretty good too. Hope the info helps!!
