Hi all-- just wanted to ask for your prayers and thoughts, etc. We're looking at a house to rent-to-own, it's very near our apt, so a move wouldn't be too hard except for the 25 stairs up to our place now . :rolleyes:
Anyhow, it's a 4bed, 2 bath, with two decks, a 1-1/2 car garage, cinder-block basement (which is GREAT around here-- most are dirt basements in our town), a small yard. I think it must have been foreclosed on, because the owners are a couple who does construction and they do this regularly-- buy run down houses, fix them up and sell or rent them. So when it's finished it will have all new paint, carpet and floors, the bathroms are redone, all new appliances, new water heater, some new doors. The windows are all less than 5 years old, as is the furnace.
The Living room is HUGE! There is one bedroom downstairs, with 3 and the 2nd bath upstairs. I've already been visualizing where all our furniture will go... It also has laundry-- ahhh that will be nice-- we use a laundromat now-- it stinks hauling 5 baskets up and down the stairs every week!
The rent is a little more than we're paying now, but we feel like it's worth it to get our foot in the door to buy. The owner works with a financer who can get most people approved after a year of on-time rent payments, so we're hopeful about it. We will know in about 2 more weeks who they will decide on-- they said they start out with about 20 people calling them and by the time the house is actually ready, they'll probably have about 3 who can actually afford it. This time around, we'll be one of those three!
So anyhow, just wanted to let you all know of this possible new development for us. It'll be nice to let the girls go play in our own yard! I'm so terrible about waiting, but I do need to call the owners yet to ask some more questions. I've been praying about it nonstop, so I guess for now those things are all I can do! :p
