 is it possible that insulin doesn't get through if you are sitting on the quick-set? this seems to have happened twice in the last 2 days..he does have the quick-set right where he sits on it, but it seems that if we have a long car journey the insulin just doesn't get through...even if I bolus. MAybe I have just been unlucky with this one....

I haven't noticed this problem with Emma, but anythings possible!;)
I would try a new location for the next site, and always make sure you have enough padding to prevent to cannula from hitting muscle. Any contact with the muscle below will cause the cannula to bend at the end and can stop the flow of the insulin.
Good Luck!!

thankyou, had n't thought of that...am going to change over to the silhouette ones - bit worried about it though as they do seem rather more difficult to insert.....thanks again for your help though:)
WE had problems like this & were reluctant to switch. The insertion is more intimidating at first, but like everything else you get used to it. Once we did switch, no more problems. It is worth a try!

OK....I am going to give it a go tomorrow....btw we normally prime 0.3 for a quick-set, can you tell me what you recommend for the silhouette - thanks

We just started a trial of the 13mm Silhouettes. The package insert said to prime .7. So far so good, but they aren't quite as convenient as the quick-sets. I'm sure it just takes getting used to something new!

with the quickset. My daughter has very little body fat..we usually use the bum area. We finially switched to the short silhouettes and her BG have been much better! Her A1C has gone down too since we switched. I was really nervous to use the silhouettes since the needle is so long but she doesn't even flintch and she say's there's no pain at all. Good Luck!

I agree with all of the above posts. We went from the insets similar to quicksets to the silhouettes. Our success is much much better. It's that not enough fat issue. Just rolling over in his bed at night and boom kinked canula, no insulin. Now, not a problem. So pleased with our results using them.
