Does your chest hurt? My chest hurt for a week when I was trying to figure out how to keep Jake safe at school. I also just got a little poochie form the extra cortisol no doubt. It stinks because I have been exercising regularly (walking 2 to 4 miles four or five times a week) and was looking and feeling great:(

Heather, stress affects my acid reflux big time and causes my chest to hurt. Twice got nervous it was my heart and both times had it checked out and was just my acid reflux.

well, I am glad you don't have acid reflux. I wouldn't worry to much about the little extra poochie:D Nobody on here will even notice :D
Oh and I am up because of lows.

Are there free clinics where you live? I would get myself checked out. I also don't like that chest pain symptom. Had them a couple times, but after bronchitis and constant coughing.
I hope you can get yourself checked out.
I think stress can cause many symptoms, but I always feel better if I can rule out other factors.
Hugs!!

Sorry about the lows, Martha.:( Hope you can go to sleep really soon.

I'm up because it's morning here.:D Hubby worked all night so he's sleeping. He'll have to work tonight too. Hard to keep the boys quiet. I may take them out for a couple of hours, but it's cold.:o Maybe after lunch.

Yes, On Sept 11th my chest hurt so bad I thought I was going to have a heart attack. It went away as soon as my husband got home.
I have also experienced extreme chest pain on occasions. After a normal EKG, the doctor said I was having espohogeal spasms.

Hi Heather,
Could it be aniexty attacks? I would go to the doctor and ask that they do an EKG in the office just to make sure there is nothing wrong with your heart!
I hope you feeling better and the poochie goes away soon:)

Is that darn stress hormone why I have a poochie tummy?

I do. Last summer was bad. I went to the ER because I was having frequent bad chest pains. Turns out I have an irregular heart. Cardiologist didn't know why it was causing me pain, though. However, as soon as I cut out the caffeine and started to cut out some stress the pains rarely happen unless I get stressed like the first week of school this year.

Thanks for the input guys:cwds: It's not severe for me when it happens. More like an ache if that makes sense. I recently had blood work done and it came back that I have a less than average chance of having heart problems.
It's better now, it only happens when I'm really upset:cwds:

IF you're having chest pain, it maybe chest WALL pain, or rib pain

I do have problems with the cartilage between my ribs and sternum would that flair up because of stress? It only happens when I'm very stressed...It kinda feels like your heart is breaking/aching but the pain isn't too bad:confused:

That could be it Connie, is it near your heart? Or all over?

I do.. It's not in my heart though, it's more like a tight chest / hurts to breathe.

I have mitral valve prolapse, fancy name for heart murmer. So I do get chest pain, trouble breathing, fatigue, panic attacks. I go to a cardiologist and have had stress tests done and she said all is well .

Sometimes, it feels like just boob pain, others deep heart muscle pain, and sometimes it runs down the arm and throught the shoulder, I have had ALL the test done, including the nuclear medicine tests, I'm totally healthy.

I have that too. Its called chostrochondritis and its a pain. Pardon the pun.
I get chest pain when Im stressed. Having it today as a matter of fact. (Just found out theres swine flu at Joey's school and he's flipping out because Im keeping all the kids home until I talk to both the school and Joey's endo tomorrow.) Mine got so bad at 1 point I ended up in the ER, had an abnormal EKG, was told I had CAD and had a cardiac cathaterization. Found out after all that it was anxiety attacks.
Get it checked out Heather. Better safe than sorry!

Hugs, Heather. It sounds like your body is responding to stress! I hope you can find a way to deal with it so that it isn't putting your body in so much pain. :(

I'd get it checked, but it does sound like anxiety to me. Hugs.

I too get this - once ended up in PT for it - my diaphram was out of whack etc from being stressed for so long. Now when it happens I am usually able to get rid of the pain within a day or two sometiems within hours.

I have a mild hiatl hurnia (spelling??) which can act up when I am stressed (or when I eat too much). It feels like chest pain, and does not feel like you would think acid reflux should feel. The first time it bothered me was when I was in my mid 20's and having some major work stress, so the Dr. scoped me and it was discovered.

One of my best girlfriends went to the ER just a couple of weeks back with pain like you've described. They ran all kinds of tests to rule out a heart attack. She was there for several hours, but then they came back with Costochronditis. It's a condition where the cartilage in the chest becomes sore...cause...stress. I had never heard of such a thing, but my very own sister has experienced it twice. Amazing...
P.S. Guess I should have read everyone's response before mine...sorry! LOL
Ive had mine since my hysterectomy in 2003. The dr said it started from doing too much too soon. I had 1 yr old twins, a 7 yr old and 13 yr old. No such thing! It can be pretty annoying. Gets worse during a fibro flare, a lot of stress, rainy or cold weather. Lessening caffiene is supposed to help and Ive tried that but seriously if they want me cutting out caffiene then they need to come up w/ something else to wake my butt up at 430 every morning and help keep me running around the nursing home when I havent slept much. And then comong home to cook, clean, run kids around ect. Dont you know that those are the days where that place is a madhouse? LOL
