Our endo has been talking about trying out Symlin with our son. Now that we are using a CGM we can better monitor the potential lows that we might (will?) encounter.

Just curious if there are any kids out there using this yet. Kristi, is your endo still talking about if for Braden? Any others?

Our son is only 3 so I have some concerns about the lows, obviously, and the need for the substantial meals of 30 carbs (usually not a problem, but you never know with a 3 year old!).

Are there other risks we should be aware of?

The number one side effect of symlin is nausea, although it hasn't happened to me.

We probably wouldn't put Emma on Symlin just because, like you said, you never know if a 3 year old is going to eat the full 30 carbs. Her CGMS would be really spotting lows, but Symlin requires A LOT of fine-tuning. Let me know if it works for your son.
