Hi All,
Okay I'm really excited. My new books, "The Everything Parents Guide to Juvenile Diabetes," is now out! It's available on amazon.com as well as in all Borders and Barnes and Nobles nationally -- I'm sure it is in other book stores too but I know those for sure. I mailed Jeff H. a copy for review (hopefully he will like it!) It's a basic and from a parent's point-of-view book about daily care of your child with diabetes. Published by Adams Media (a big publisher!) and just so you know, all my proceeds ($10k this week alone!) are going directly to JDRF.
I hope some of you will consider reading it! Many of my thoughts and ideas came from all I've learned on this site over the years (and this site is talked about in the book of course!)
Here is a link:

This is my third book -- the first two were on the history of women's golf and then on skiing -- but I am really excited about this one.

No it's not Lauren. Publisher's inside art! I have no idea who it is. Book is selling really well. I am happy and surprised. It's scary for me. when I write about skiing or golf or tennis I know I am an expert . . but diabetes and kids??? I am no more an expert (and maybe less) than any of you. My agent had to talk me into it when the publisher approached her about it. I didn't want to come off like a know it all. We struggle EVERY DAY here at our house! So my hope is that it is a nice, basic guide. I actually refer people to this site and to great books like Pumping Insulin by John Walsh in it.
For my next project my agent wants me to write a book on how to be a good youth sports parent. Now THAT's a political subject!

Yeah, add tennis to the list and I'm go to go. I'm shocked and thrilled the book is selling! Like all writers, I assume everything I do is subpar. But my agent and publisher are way happy with me right now so that's good! And best of all, Lauren has actually been taking relatively good care of herself lately. Breathing while I can!

Moira, I just wanted to let you know that I purchased your book a week or so ago.. DH and I have both been reading it.. its a great asset to our collection of D info.. DH was reading it last night before bed and kept calling out (I was in the living room) saying 'hey, did you now.. blah blah blah.. ' Yes, dear, I've read the book already;) and was happy to hear that someone from this group wrote the book:) I think he feels better about me talking online to people, hey, they really DO know what they're talking about LOL..
great book, great job! :)

You are so funny! Everything I know I learned from my CWD friends! I think any of us could have written this -- I just happen to be in the field! I'm glad you like it, it means a lot to me!

Hey--just wanted to let you know that my dh bought your book for me for Mother's Day. He didn't have any idea that I "know" you from here--He just picked yours (from the many to choose from) off the bookshelf at the store. Way to go!! :)

That is so cool! It's selling like HOTCAKES. I"m stunned :-) I have another book on another topic due Aug 1 but I don't feel the same passion as I did about this book. I am soooo happy people are liking it. Thanks for sharing! (and reviews on amazon.com are most appreciated -- they make it sell!)

As someone who is new to all this....your book is so great - it tells you the things you need to know so you can ask questions, etc. It's the best one I have read so far! Thank you for taking the time to write it.
I recently bought your book. I am just about through reading it. It is great! It is written in terms anyone would understand. I am going to try to get my family to read it too as it will only help them understand all that is involved in Emily's care and how to do it too. Thanks. Tena

I wish you the best of luck. It's good to have a book written by someone first hand. I look forward to getting it. When does it come out?
IT is out. CWD actually has it as their Featured Book of the Week this week! Check out their main page at the bottom.
I let my neighbor borrow my book. He is type 1 diagnosed at 30 YRS OLD. He has been seeing a GP and has had D for 15 yrs. He has no idea about counting carbs and correction factors. I told him he needs to see an endo quick and to read this book. I know its written about kids but for someone who just guesses his way through it will be a starting point for him. Thanks

Hello I have not posted many things on hear Just
"My son death can not be in vain." I want to write a book about my son Michael I just do not know were to start. I like to write but just for my self. I have never written for others to read. Do you have any advice that you can give me? My son hated having Diabetes more then anything else in this world. I want to write to reach out to other teens that do not want to test or fake their numbers. That death is real if they do not take care of them selves.
Thank you Barbara

Moira,
I seem to have acquired a library of D books since my daughter's diagnosis and wasn't very interested in reading yet another that may be similar to something I already have. However, I came across your book while at the bookstore recently and bought it! I wish it had been written when my daughter was first diagnosed, as yours is the most excellent book I've found yet for practical D management, especially for beginners who are overwhelmed (like I was, and still am at times!). I showed it to my CDE and will highly recommend it to all my friends who have CWD. I'm also taking a copy to camp this week to show everyone.
Thanks for all your efforts in this!!
Andie
