Just called and they are sold out! For now. They have been trying to fill orders for brand new pump users and now will be waiting for the 2020's to come in to start filling the "upgraders!"..... Rep told me she will call April 16th when the new batch of pumps hit their warehouse for shipping. : )
I already made sure she knew that we will be upgrading ours when they come in. Oh and the software upgrade will be made available for download online she said, through the animas site. Requires login/pass of course. She said the existing dongles will work with the new pumps but the old software won't really work well if at all (she wasn't quite sure). Hopefully they have the new software ready for download by the time I get the new pump.

We had an endo appt today and held a 2020 in our hands. The CDE said we should wait until the next one due out later this year or early next year. This will have the same features and be able to communicate with a meter.
I am waiting.

Well, in talking with the Rep for Animas, she talked about the integration but told me it will be a couple of years before they will get all of the meter and pump talking to each other, and at that time since we are still under warranty the insurance might pick up a totally new meter if it is close to the time of the warrantee ticking down. So we decided to get it now rather than later, ....and with my thinking if they come out with something really mind blowing...like a cure...we won't need the newer pumps anymore.

What new features does the 2020 have?

New Features would be the ability to set your Insulin to carb ratio times and ISF times the same way that you can set you basal rates right now, which is by half hour increments at your choosing, instead of pre-set times of 4 hours slots (12am-4am, 4am-8am, etc.) Some pumpers need different time of days depending on weekday or weekend, (like the basals) but with the 1250 you had the 4 hour slots no matter weekday or weekend. Example: my son has a different (later) time for breakfast and lunch on weekends than weekdays (which are pre-determined based on school lunch hours etc.) so having the ability to adjust the ISF or Insulin to carb ratios differently during those times is important. Also the display is now LCD and flatpanel and in color. I was told by the rep that the contrast and letters are much easier to read even from far away. Case in point, when going into my son's room in the middle of the night and needing to bolus it is easier to see the colored larger screen than to squint and try to read the little black and yellow color screen that we have now. I would suggest you get onto the animas corp website: www.animascorp.com (http://www.animascorp.com) and read the features and judge if it is the right decision for your family. I am going for it personally. : )
