View Full Version : How do your kids prefer to wear their pumps?

Courtney is wearing it clipped to her pants, it looks huge, there is tubing hanging everywhere, her baby brother is pulling on it and I can just imagine plucking it out of the potty or it pulling out of her body!

She was sent a pump pack but thinks it is ugly. I will gladly get her more but I wanted to find out what is best and preferred by all your kids first.

Boy, this is really going to take some getting used to

My 13 year old sticks it in his pocket. He puts it in a sports pack for PE and track. We bought the clip and another pump pack that velcros to his belt, but he kept running into door frames and snagging the tubing on door knobs, so he stuck it back in his pocket.

Now all his pants and PJs need to have pockets.

jesse clips it to his waist on the side. At night , he just kinda lets it hang loose in the bed.

Vote #2 for sticking it in the pocket. Tubing goes... wherever.

Curtis shows EVERYBODY his pump, he'll tell you how tough he is, and that it's a HUGE needle during insertion, etc... So he leaves the tubing out intentionally, I think. It worries me, but it's never pulled out because it's been caught on something.

Kaylee wears hers in a pump pouch.. I've look at and bought a few different styles but the best by far are the pump paks from pumpwear.. I love the cotton ones and the softy packs.. Kaylee loves them and doesn't even notice that they are on her.. it gets difficult wearing it on the pants for potty and such.. right now she's wearing a dress that has a pocket, I cut a hole in the back of the pocket so I could hide the tubing in there.. no one even notices.. I have also made her a few pouches.. everyone thinks her 'change purse' is adorable.. kaylee loves to correct them and show them her pump.. :)

Chase puts his in is pocket also during the day and at night he clips it onto the side of his boxers when walking around the house at night then at bedtime he just layes it beside him on the bed. So far so good!!!

We sew pockets in the back of my son's shirts. Tubing stays on the inside of the shirt out of the way. He's only 5, so the pump stays out of his reach, but is easy for us to get to.

Westin just used the clip and wears it on his waist...even when he sleeps! I just have to warn any new pumpers...watch the cat! We had a kitten once that chewed right through the pump cord!

I bought Liv some Alana Mireille dresses and cargo pants. They work great for holding the pump. I love the dresses!! :D I made sure we had a pump dress ready to go for our saline start with Minimed...because months earlier we had saline trial with Cozmo that went awful because she felt like she couldn't use the bathroom easily with the pump.

She also has some pump packs from Pump Wear.

She also uses the clip for her Minimed pump and will use that for some outfits.

She has some clothes with pockets; but at her age most of the pockets are more decorative than functional.

LOL how funny but not really, I wonder if the cat got hyperglycemic?? Cats will chew up everything.

After spending tons of money on cute cell phone holders, pump-packs and such, Emily will only wear this ONE denim pump-pack that goes around her waist. She wears it 24/7 and won't consider another one. She loves it. I bought it online from pumppockets.com for less than $20 and need to get another one, as this one is looking ratty after all the wear and tear. :D

We have several pump packs from angelwear and onesies with a pocket on the back for night time.

I have clipped it to the back of her pants a few times just to move it around, it doesn't seem to be a problem.

Brianna wears her pump in little pockets that we sewed onto her undershirts. Her pockets are made of fabric with hello kitty, tinkerbell, princesses and dora the explorer. The shirts have pockets on either the left or right side depending the location of her infusion set. She loves all of them.:)

We use pump packs mostly. I have a couple of Alana-Mireille dresses, and a couple of Pumpwear shirts with pockets on the back, and a backpack holder which we use on Sports days etc, but the pump packs are the most versatile for us.
I also use "TubeGuard" which winds the tubing up neatly and then clips onto the belt or waistband. I love them :)

I've never heard of a tubeguard. Where could we get one?

Ryan wears his pump in pouches from PumpWear Inc. - they have a lot of cute ones, and the Softies are GREAT for sleeping :) Shipping to Canada is pretty reasonable, too. I highly recommend them - especially for sleeping, as the kids can just move them around on the belt to get them out of the way as they turn in bed.

I've looked all over and can't find anything that leaps out at me for Samantha. She is at that in between stage where half the stuff is too "little kid-ish" and the other stuff is too "teen-ish", man she is picky!

I'm a knitter and felted bags are all of the rage these days. I am currently working on making a fashionable pump pack for my little diva. I want to add elasticized slots for the lancing device and test strips. Anyone have any other suggestions for some features that would be helpful to have in a pump pack?

Andie- Do you still have a surplus of all those she will refuse to wear?

Lol... my DD is only 3 and will pretty much wear whatever I hand her at this point. She just started on the pump this week and VERY little of her Spring/summer wardrobe has pockets. The clip that came with her Cozmo is generally fine, but I know it pokes at her side when she sleeps.

If you want to recoup some of your losses, I may be interested. I have no idea where to start otherwise. =)

Kaycee, I will happily see if she is willing to part with any of them! I will let you know!

Heres the link to "Tubeguard"
http://www.infusion-set.com/Default.asp?ID=119

They come with a set of 4 pretty boring stickers - I buy Rachel a sheet of stickers from the $2 shop and she uses those instead. Each tubeguard lasts us about 6 weeks or more (usually until lost) so a new sticker to jazz it up every so often works a treat.

Connor 13 - stuffs it in his pocket with tubing hanging everywhere. It just lays on the bed during the night.

Delaney 9 - use to clip to her pants. Now wears a pump pak around her waist. Usually just lays next to her in bed at night.

Teagan wears her's in a pump pack. She has three that I rotate, depending on what she's wearing. My mom has offered to sew a few pockets in t-shirts and tank tops for the summer--we'll see how that goes!

Hunter has 2 different clips for his pump that he uses even during sleep. Sometimes he will put it in his pocket.

Kaylie rotates being using her pocket and a pump pouch. As for the tubing we found a tube guard that you wind the extra tubing around. It works good at keeping the tubing out of the way, but you have to unwind it to look for air bubles. I have attached a link to the web site for the TubeGuard.

We get our packs from
http://www.myownstylepack.com/

they have so many great packs and are cheaper than some other site...the quality is excellent!

My daughter loves her pump packs, and loves to coordinate them with her outfit. We found these worked the best so she could easiler pull her pants down to go potty, and not have to worry about her pump. Also there is plenty of room in the packs to put the extra tubing.

Lauren wears the pump packs from pumppack.com. I like these because they have a soft, covered velcro so she can lay down on it at night and it is comfortable (unlike a plastic latch). They have lots of different fabrics so it was fun for her to choose a couple after she got her pump and color coordinate with her outfits.

Well, after spending countless hours on the computer searching for a realistically priced pump pack in Canada I have come to the conclusion that they are all American based and way overpriced.I am not at all cheap but all these companies take advantage of people like you and I that want cute things for our kids that in my opinion anyway are a necessity  and charge 70x more than it costs them to make the thing.

So, I posted an ad on craigslist.com for a seamstress for hire to make me some cute and fun packs for Courtney to enjoy. I guess we will see if I was smart or not

I bought little undershirts and sewed pockets onto them. Ok, I bought them and my mom sewed them on. Alyssa doesn't like the pump packs at all, they get in her way. We also went the cargo pant route, or any skirt/short/pant that had a good deep pocket.

Our daughter was VERY unhappy with having a clip or belt product. My wife found this site.

www.mykpp.com

Works great and she happy.
