Has anyone seen this/used this?
We just received it in an email from our local JDRF chapter. There is only one person in our area. But, it's worth a phone call.
Just thought I would share. I know many of us are in need of some time away and good care for our kids is hard to come by.
The girl in our area has had D since 95 and is on the pump.

We were very lucky - one of my friends has Type 1 and our children are similar age - so we do a babysitting swap. We each get every other weekend to go out on a date with our spouses, babysitting is free and what is absolutely great for me - my friend is already an expert on carb counting and dosing out insulin (shot), although she's been on the pump for quite a few years now. It's a bonus for my son too, as he gets to watch her check her BS and see how a pump works vs. MDI.
However - I would LOVE to find a HS babysitter with Type 1 - my son would be in total awe! I think that website is a fabulous idea!!!!!

I haven't tried either as we have plenty of willing family near us, but these both seem like great services if you can find someone listed in your area!

I wish there was someone located in PA. We literally have no help or support from any family or friends. Let me know if any of you move to Bucks Co, PA some day. We would be happy to trade off our kids for yours anytime, so we can get out for a night.

None in our state either!
We were lucky enough to have a type 1 high school boy in our neighborhood who sat for us occassionally (as did his sister who was also well versed on diabetes care). It was a relief for me and we did use him, but my boys preferred another non-D sitter, who we use more often. It really helps as far as babysitting goes when your child is old enough to do their own injections.
AnneMarie...We're coming into Newtown tomorrow for Easter...should I swing by your house for a couple of hours?! :p
The CWD Family Support Network offers families a way to connect with babysitters too:

You can search via ZIP code in the US.

I just posted my profile on the website. My hometown is in Richmond, VA, but I am living in VA Beach, VA and available to travel as needed.
