Has anyone seen / used the new inset II from Unomedical?

It supposed to be easier to disconnect and reconnect and has a transparent window to view the insertion site. Both of these seem to be nice perks if it works well.
Thanks.

Inset sites are made by Unomedical. Last December, my son did a trial of 10 Inset II sets and absolutely loved them! He hardly felt them when they went it -- usually he feels something. The connector is a little different and there is a little window where you can see the cannula going into the skin.
I guess that Animas markets the sites in the US and decided not to sell this site. My son was crushed.

From the Unomedical site (web site, not site site.... lol)
Does not look like it is available in the US yet
AVAILABLE in select European countries and Canada from March 1 2007

There are no plans to make it available in the US. Animas markets the product in the US and they aren't going to sell it. I got this straight from Animas.

Thanks. They say why not?
I printed out the information page and I can't see much differance between it and the inset that is available. Window to see the set insertion point, cap looks different, maybe a different connector.

There is a huge difference in the mechanism that "shoots" in the site. It is 50% faster (in my opinion). The connector looks different and handles differently and the site has a window to see the cannula.
Animas did not say why they are not marketing the Inset II. All she did is forward my e-mail to their marketing department.

Thanks for the scoop - I hope it really is available in Canada! I've sent an inquiry to unomedical.
Amy, do you feel the faster insertion is a good thing?

I would definitely love the clear window and easier disconnection. We are currently using the (regular) Insets and like them but any improvement is....goood :)

When my son inserted the first Inset II, the look of amazement on his face was priceless. He doesn't use a numbing cream so insertions are a crap shoot. Sometimes they really hurt, but most of the time, they feel odd. He hardly felt this one at all. He was bracing for some discomfort.

I called Animas and they sent us out a whole box to try! Arrived today. I really hope Aaron likes them.

My son Jesse also did the inset II trials last year. He likes the original Inset better. In his opinion, the plastic connector was larger and annoying. For some reason, the II's are only for the european market.

Marketing is weird, isn't it? The original Insets aren't available in Canada. The Inset IIs are available in Canada, but not in the US. Go figure.
