Abdulqadir Hilowle, 12, could die without the twice-daily injections of insulin he needs to treat his condition.

http://www.hackneygazette.co.uk/london24/assets/images/dynamicFeed/OconnorP6324032006.P02.jpgSabrina Holowle, 8 He and his eight-year-old sister, Sabrina, have not been seen since last Friday. The youngsters had been placed in separate foster homes by Hackney Council social services.

Police have launched an urgent appeal for anyone who has spotted the children to come forward.

"We are concerned for the health and welfare of these children," said Det Insp Daniel Smith, of Shoreditch CID, who is leading the search.

"The boy needs injections twice a day for his diabetes and without them he would be very seriously ill."

"It's urgent that we trace him immediately. The girl is very young and we are naturally also concerned for her safety as well," he added.

Teachers raised the alarm after Sabrina failed to turn up at her school in Bethnal Green. She was spotted later that morning in Edmonton in north London.

She was last seen wearing a blue Parka coat, blue school trousers and a polo neck jumper. She was carrying a blue school bag with red trimming. She is about 4ft 1ins tall and has black plaited hair.

Abdulqadir was reported missing that afternoon when he did not come home after school. He is 5ft tall and has short, dark, curly hair.

If you have any information, call Shoreditch CID on 020 7275 3602 or 020 7739 1212.
