Sometimes I babysit a little boy who has autism. He is 4 1/2 years old and he doesn't really speak. He is just learning to say hi.
So I babysat him and his little brother tonight because their parents went out on a date (they went out to dinner and saw the new harry potter movie.)
Anyways I was babysitting and M, the little boy who has autism, comes up and gives me this HUGE hug. He is way too cute. I guess it really is the little things that count.
Like I said, he doesn't really talk and the only way he really communicates is by taking your hand and laying it on what he is trying to get. So for him to give me a huh was a really big deal to me.
I just had to share that:cwds:

That's wonderful Kier, it truly is what can seem like small things make you smile.:)

<goes massively off-topic>

A while before I was dx'd (from January to June '07) my grandad was in hospital, having had a massive stroke in January (he was given a 20% chance of surviving the night after the stroke, and it was shocking that he pulled through that, as well as several more strokes, 7 heart attacks, a deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism). It was being with him in the hospital (I visited him most days after school) that made me realise that the little things really do count. He couldn't speak, and he couldn't walk, but little things (like when he would let me win at connect4, or when he noticed that I'd had my braces taken off) meant an awful lot to me.

<ends off-topic ramble>
