Hi. I am new on this website. I am 10, and was diagnosed 2 years ago. I do shots at least 3 times a day. Do you know anything about the pump? My mom wants me to use one, but I'm notsure about it. Is it uncomfertable to sleep with? Can I wear it to play baseball? What about at the beach? Any thing about them is greatly wanted. Thanks.

Hey! Nice to meet you and welcome to the board!

About your questions:

I just got on an insulin pump in december and I love it! My blood sugars are SO much better and it's WAY better than 5-8 shots a day! It's only one shot every 2-3 days.

I have not found it uncomfortable, and it was a worry for me at first too. I didn't know if i would like sleeping with it. But it has been just fine. Some people just throw it in bed with them. Others stick it in their pj pants or shirt pocket. others stick it under their pillow. It's all a matter of preference. I've done all the above! They all work.

You can wear it to play baseball, there are different things you can buy to hold your pump in while you're playing sports. Also, you can take it off for up to one hour - I do gymnastics so what I do is take it off for an hour, then I go check my blood sugar and see if I need a snack or if my blood sugar is too high and I'll connect myself to the pump for a couple minutes to give a correction.

At the beach: There are pumps now (like mine) that are waterproof. But I have never worn mine in the water. I just do what I already said above for dealing with that. My family likes to rough house a lot so I find myself taking my pump off for a short little while so something doesn't happen to it or my infusion set.

The pump has been awesome for me. my pump actualy has alllll sorts of foods programmed into it - like subway sandwiches - and the exact carbohydrate and all of those things. Which is SO nice!

Hope this helps. PM me if you wanna talk or have any questions! :D
