I have had a MM CGM since October. I have been wearing the sensor on my abdomen in the same sites I use for my infusion set.

They have now come out with the (much) smaller minilink transmitter and I was considering wearing the sensor on my thigh. I have a couple of concerns about it though. I'm worried that the insertion will be very painful (OK, that can be true with just about any site), that it will be irritating while exercising or even normal daily activity with pants rubbing against it, and that it will show under my pants (I have enough bulges on my own I don't need that kind of help).

If anyone has any experiences to share I would sure appreciate it.

When I borrow the CGMS from the clinic, I wear it in my arm. I heard someone else who has their own, to use your love handles

PLEASE NOTE REVISIONS TO POST
As you may notice, I have finally registered (after appreciating all the useful suggestions in these Forums for some time) with the site ... in order to post what I realize is a belated reply to this message. Thanks to my wife's urging, I got the CGM when it first came out last year; and, started with the new MiniLink a couple of months ago. Concerned about my lack of available "real estate" for pump sites, I started using my thighs for monitoring. Though I have skinny legs, this site (upper mid to outer thigh) has proven surprisingly comfortable... and, resilient. NOTE: After posting this reply, it occurred to me that while I had previously used the SIDE of my thigh for insulin injections, I had NOT really used that area for Sensor inserts. So, I tried it a few days ago... and, ended up with a real 'bleeder.' I believe that I may not have enough muscle mass in the side of my leg to take the insert. So, while I will continue to use my thighs for Sensors, I will stick to the TOP area. Sorry for any misleading information. I find it works better to STAND while inserting the sensor (even though the skin may feel more taut while doing so); and, I usually insert at a bit more than a 45-degree angle. One Final Note: After I put (2) dressings over the sensor, I apply a piece of smooth, waterproof tape over the top of the site. It may not be necessary; but, I think it helps to keep clothing from catching on the sensor. Good Luck!
