Pump and insulin amounts question

Hi All...

My ever wondering mind does not seem to stop lately so I will ask...

Courtney is presently MDI but will be hooked up on April 11th.(minimed 522).right now my only option with the pens is 1 unit or 1/2 unit increments. Now here is what my wondering mind wants to know...

When you are pumping and using the bolus wizard is it also just in rounded off increments or will it tell you right down to the tiniest amount what is needed for the carbs entered or for a correction? I'm assuming this is the way it will be or at least am hoping..there are numerous times when the amount I can give her is either not enough or too much...:cwds:

Just one of the many items on my list of questions. I know I will learn all this but I am impatient..lol

Hannah started the Minimed 522 in February, and we LOVE it! It can dose her .05 of a unit for her Basal Rates! For her Bolus we enter BG and carbs and it will tell us a dose like, 2.6 units of insulin needed. I love that it can be so precise!

We have found that when she is a little higher, and we give her a correction dose, the pump is able to bring her to target within an hour or two. The best thing we have done for Hannah so far was to put her on the pump!

Yes, the pump will figure the dose down to very tiny increments and round to the nearest .05 unit increment for you (at least that's what my daughter's Animas does- I think Minimed is the same). In my opinion it's one of the nicest things about the pump. I used to spend a lot of time and energy worrying about which direction her BG's were headed and whether I should round the Novopen dose up or down to the nearest 1/2 unit. And things always seem to work out to need 1/3 or 3/4 of a unit!

Wonderful..I was hoping it would be that way...I can relate to the ever present ...trying to guage should I go more or less. I am looking forward to that aspect for sure!!!
