Hi! I'm 10 and still get insulin shots at least 3 times a day.;) I use one-touch ultra, and test about 6 times a day

i get 2-3 shots and blood check 2-3 times

have either of you looked into the insulin pump? They're SO great! I was taking around 5-8 shots a day before a pump, now I only get one ever 2-4 days! yay!
Also, my blood sugar has been SO much better! They're really great. And they work well with sports too. :)
