Hey, I'll be your friend! I'm a bit older than you, but I'd love to be your friend :D.
I'm an 18 year old girl. Diganosed when I was 14. I am on an insulin pump - and I love it!
Hope to hear from you soon.
have a good day!

The Pump is WONDERFUL! :) I've only been on it for 3 months and my blood sugars are WAY better than they ever were before that (except during the "honeymoon" time.).
I was diagnosed with diabetes after I had missed a week of school and was so sick I wouldn't eat and would not get off the couch. (I am one of 5 kids so usually when one kid gets sick - at least one of the others does as well. No one else was sick.) I was peeing A LOT, had NO concentration, school was very difficult. Then I just got laid out flat with flu-type symptoms. My mom finally decided to take me into the doctor and they checked my pee, and drew my blood. At the time (because I hadn't eaten for several days straight) my bg was 350 and the docs told my mom to take me straight to the hospital cause I was in DKA - by the time we got there my blood sugar was well over 400. Not the highest anyone has had, by any means. I spent a week in the hospital and learned how to do everything.
I think that's the basics, for my story.

The pump is definitly wonderful!! I love the flexibility it gives me the most!
I was sad when I got diabetes, I guess. It didn't really hit home till after I was out of the hospital and on my own. I was in the hospital for three days, over a weekend, so I only missed one day of school. But I was also peeing a lot, drinking a lot, eating a lot, and was very very sleepy, all the time. The hospital experience was the most scary part for me, but the diabetes was more looked at as an inconvenience for me at the time. Like I said, it just didn't hit home till later.
