Her bg is going down, but she has ketones

170 now after 2 1/2 hrs. and we are getting to put her to bed. She has trace ketones. As long as it is going down, we are OK, right?

Trace ketones shouldn't be a big concern, especially if her blood sugar is coming back down. But I'd be concerned if they start to rise at all, especially when she's not sick and has been eating well.
Have you been testing ketones regularly? Does she have them often?

I don't test often, but have been since she has been having these over 200 numbers. Today is the first time she has had ketones since Oct.

Well--I just checked her again while she was sleeping. It is 5 hours after supper now and about 2 since a small bedtime snack (cheese, sausage, milk) and she is 60! Her pancreas obviously kicked in--a little much though. This is all very confusing. Do you think I should check her again tonight or just leave it till morning?

If it were me... Id retest her in a couple of hours to see what's happening, but I am a little obsessive. At least she's back down, hopefully she won't go any lower!

Well--I'm a bit obsessive myself, so I think I will at least check one more time. Thanks for talking to me about this-- I really hate it!
