Tessa had a few really great days. On Wednesday she wasn't sick anymore and her numbers have been fairly close to normal all the rest of the week. Today, 1 1/2 hrs. after supper and she is 245! We washed our hands and retested--227. I just don't know what to do. I hate just sitting and waiting and hoping all is OK.

and I checked her brother just now--who ate the same supper-- and he is 91.

I wish you guys could find out what may be going on with her. Sending prayers that you do soon. :cwds:

She never stays in the 200s very long -- so insulin really wouldn't be in order. She is still producing insulin, which is great. What is too bad is that you aren't given more guidance from the doctor. It sounds like almost diabetes, not the real McCoy yet.

I'm sorry that no one seems to be able to help you. I'd be going crazy too, if my non-d child was having those numbers.
I doubt it makes you feel much better, but if she's coming back in range after every meal there's really not a lot that can be done at this point, (other than maybe some experimental stuff). If you gave her insulin she would be going low over and over, so I don't think even with a dx's you'd have many options right now.
Just keep logging those numbers for your upcoming visit, as I think any pedi endo will see that there's something wrong.
Hang in there!

She was 204 after 2 hrs. She just fell asleep on the couch--the high bg makes her so tired.

tymaxtess, I sigh everytime I see those numbers. 204 after 2hours, is pretty high. I can't imagine that they would call this anything but prediabetic. I know how hard it is to see your little one so tired knowing what is going on. We went thru the same thing for years feeling helpless, you are really making all the right decisions in pursuing this like you have been. Tell me again how you found this out to be? Was it a routine well exam?
