Hi,
We are now going onto one month of pumping:) , and now that I'm more comfortable using my daughters pump, I was wondering if this product is REALLY helpful. I no longer use a pda (like I'm not carrying enough d stuff around, I need to carry that too?), but do all record keeping on my laptop. I was wondering if anyone uses it, and if you think it's worth the investment.
Any info would help.

I don't use EZ manager, but I use a similar program through minimed called Carelink. I think it's a great time saving tool! I used to write down everything in great detail and keep it all in a notebook, and I mean everything. Now I just upload the pumps memory and it can tell me everything I need to know to make adjustments; every blood sugar, carb, and bolus/basal is charted in any number of ways so you can see what time of day you run high or low, how things have been over 2,4,8,12 weeks, etc.
I'm not sure how similar EZ M is, but I think anything that helps take some of the stress out of managing this disease is worthwhile!!

I have the ezmanager plus, which is really cool. Sadly, it doesn't work on a Mac. So I use my boyfriends computer - its really cool. I think it's very helpful. If you have the animas ir1250 - it'll download songs and different thing onto your pump that you can set for an alarm. It's really great.

What is this and how does it work?

It is a data management package that works in conjunction with the Animas Pump. It helps in record keeping.

I should add that EZ Manager is quite pricey: about $129. I use a program from LifeScan that was free when I ordered the $10 cable to connect the meter to the computer. It downloads all the information from the meter and has handy reports and charts that allows me to see how things are going. It isn't great, but works pretty well.

Wendy,
We've used the ezmanager for four years... About a couple years ago my son lost the palm but we still use the program becuase it brings everything together in one program.... All the bloodsugars and with the lifescan ultrasmart he places his meal carbs in the meter so one we download this animas pump and the Ultrasmart we have verything in one place to make decisions on for adjustments. When we go to the edo's office they just take our charts and review the data I give them the information since the last visit and 2 weeks that way they can see what's happened. As a parent I like having everything together and with one report I can see where to make adjustments or where our son failed to properly take care of his diabetes. Based on how much you review and how much you actually control treatment would determine if the cost is worth it. One thing I like is that every meter that we've ever had will download into the program plus I imported his prepump BG levels so I have every BG he has ever taken... As a parent it gives me a level of comfort and some what controll over a disease that often leaves us feeling out of control. I could send you some reports if you would like to see what it gives you.

Thanks to all of you for your input. It was very helpful. I'm going to probably get the software (maybe I can convince the insurance co. that it's a diabetic supply!). Anything to help make record keeping easier!
Have a great weekend everyone!
