Hi, I'm really excited about this conference but most people on the board seem to be families. As a 26 year old young woman, I'm looking for others in the 18-30 year age range (+ or - a couple years). You may be going with your family or even have a young family or be single like me. Let me know if you're a young adult that's going to be there that would like to get together!

Hey, I'm 19, and I received a scholarship to attend the conference, so I'll be there! I'm really excited! I've never been to anything like this. :D

Hi, congrats on the scholarships!
I am 19 (....in a week), and will be there as well.
My 22 year old brother, and his girlfriend will be there, too (both non-d, though). They will probably tag-along with me a lot.
I am definitely looking forward to meeting others!

Melissa, that's great! I received a scholarship as well, maybe we'll be roommates. I look forward to meeting you in July.

Yay! I'm so excited!
RBJervey- What time do you think you will be arriving on the 7th? I spoke with someone who said the young adults are going to the waterpark on the 7th, in the morning, but I can't seem to find a plane ride into Orlando for so early in the morning?
I'm so excited to meet everyone! It's going to be so fun! I've never been to anything like this!
Where is everyone from?

I saw the water park info too but the earliest I could fly in was around 8:30 which was when they were leaving. I also looked at the schedule of events we're expected to attend and realized that our first event that Tuesday is at 4:00 so we'd have to leave the water park probably before 3:00 to get back. I decided it was not worth trying to do the water park on that day.
I will be flying into the Orlando International Airport at 9:17AM on Tuesday so I have lots of time to check out the hotel before we meet. Then I'm actually going to figure out how to stay one extra night and go into the parks on Sunday (and maybe Monday) after the conference. I'm flying out Monday at 8:47PM.
As for where I'm from, I'm just west of Philly in the mainline suburbs. (although I just moved here this year, last year I lived in Lowell, MA). I'm really excited too, it's only a couple months away!

Haha, Still cool though! I'm very excited to meet all of the other families and kids dealing with everything that I go through everyday. I also love to work with kids and hope to get some more experience by going. Has your son been to the Joslin camp at all? I'm from Westfield MA

Hey I was just wondering if anyone knew like what kind of clothes we are supposed to wear for these receptions during the conference?

Casual from what Laura said. I hear that most people will wear either a dress (sundress type) or capris with a nice top. But casual and cool is the theme for most things. (correct me if I am wrong!)

I thin the only exception is that she said that at the Teen dance they dress up (no jeans or shorts, and many of the girls do it up). I'm not sure about the young adult dinner.

You can always email Laura so you know for sure. I hate to see you buy a dress and then find out you didn't really have to wear one. ;)

Hey Melissa,
Did you ever hear back from Laura about the Young Adult banquet dress code? I just bought a bathing suit this weekend and want to make sure I've got everything else I need! Less than 2 months left!

I emailed Laura about the dress cord, this is what she said:
"The conference is casual; shorts and t-shirts are fine. For the young adult dinner and salsa dancing, you'll want to dress up (a nice sundress or nice pants/shirt). The banquet - again, you may want to dress in something nice, although plenty of people come to this in shorts, too (I wear a sundress). "

Uh Oh...May have issues there.
I am just going to take a guess and say that Wrangler jeans and a Tank top doesn't count as 'dressing up':p
Guess I will have to go pick up something nice LOL.

I was looking at pics from last years conference and the young adult dinner from last year, and it looks like dresses :-/..I haven't worn a dress in soo long..I bought a little black one, but I have no idea where I'll put my pump on it..maybe i will just duct tape my pump to my leg haha
