My niece is graduating college next month. I see her just a few times a year, at holidays, and only half of that time do I ever even talk to her. How much money would be appropriate to give her? I don't want to look like I'm cheap, but I don't have a lot cash to just throw around.
I started giving gas or phone cards for graduation gifts. I have a problem with the gleam young people get in their eye when they are counting the pile of cash after graduation. $25 is what I go with.

My nephew graduated last year. I got fed up several years ago with my nieces and nephew not writing thank you notes or calling to thank me, so I stopped sending gifts to them. For HS graduation, I sent my nephew $50. Guess what I got in the mail two weeks later??? I debated for a long time how much to send. $25 is probably what I would send to a friends child, $100 way too much for our budget. $50 seemed right.

I'm thinking like $25 too. I think that's what she'll get,,,,and maybe I will do a gas card. Thanks!
