To prevent skin irritation caused by sensor pads it's said that one can insert the sensor thru IV3000. Now, wouldnt that kill the sensor?

I would *not* try inserting the MM sensor through anything. You should only use alcohol to clean the area and nothing else.
There is no pad that causes irritation related to the sensor. The transmitter has sticky pads that you can use to stick it on your body, and they are irritating. I now tape the entire sensor and transmitter down with hypafix tape and it works great. The only irritation comes from removing the tape later. It's really sticky.

I only use alcohol to wipe the area as well. The sensor itself only has a very small area with adhesive and it does not irritate my son at all. Any irritation comes from the tapes that I use over the sensor or to hold the transmitter in place. I have a question for those using the hypafix/flexifix. When it is time to remove the sensor and transmitter, do you have a special trick to take off the flexifix? This stuff is really sticky! I have to peel and peel to try to get it all of the transmitter and cord. Do you use detachol or just peel it off? Thanks!

I have read to only use alcohol swabs to clean the area and not to use IV prep. The IV prep is supposed to kill the sensor. I did use IV prep on our first one because I didn't know otherwise and got decent results. I did stop using it once I realized that I wasn't supposed to.

I use "Remover" wipes which are the same as Unisolve. It's not quite as strong as Detachol, but works OK.
We're using the hypafix tape and it is sooooo sticky. It can take a couple of days to get all the residue off. I can't wait for a smaller transmitter!!:)
