Ok...we're just about ready to get Gabriel started on a pump (WooHoo!!!!!!!):D . We've narrowed it down to the Animas 1250 or the Cozmo w/ Cozmonitor. Honestly, we love both so far. Each has features we like, and I think we'd be happy with either pump. However, I would like to know how you guys feel about the customer service for Smith Medical and Animas. Plus...any other info...? Do you like how the Cozmo works with the attatched monitor? Is the software easy? The sort of stuff you just can't get from the manuals or tapes (or reps).

My son has used the Cozmo for a little over a year and we've been very pleased. The customer service is wonderful. We had a small problem with the pump at first (the battery cap chipped) and we had a new pump at our door in less than 24 hours.

We have also just recently figured out how to use the software and I love it, too. Especially being able to download the history -- it gives you TONS of info.

However, we don't especially care for the cozmonitor. Carson wears the pump in a pump pouch. The cozmonitor is pretty difficult to use especially at night and makes it more bulky. If he's sleeping, we have to fumble around in the dark for the pouch, get out the whole pump and if the tubing is a little twisted around him or something, he ends up waking up just for a sugar check. And during the day it's hard to get a 5 year old to hold still to get the pump out of his pouch for every sugar check. So we just use a regular monitor -- the freestyle flash. We are still able to manually enter Carson's blood sugars into the pump when we bolus him, so it can calculate any correction bolus needed. It is nice to have the cozmonitor as a backup. It uses the same test strips as the flash and in a low battery emergency, we've had to use the cozmonitor. It's very easy to attach and detach.

Hope that helps!!
