We use sugar free syrup, it has 13c and 12 sugar alcohols. I cant remember to save my life, do you subtract the alcohols from the carbs?

I think you do but we stay really far away from sugar alcohols...they cause lots of tummy problems....

You take the sugar alcohols and divide it by 2, then subtract that from the total carbs. So in your example, 13g total - (12/2) = 7g net carbs
On the tummy troubles, my 5 year old never has problems with it nor do I, but my husband does. It is a personal thing, just test it out.

Believe it or not, we use 100% real maple syrup. It is more expensive, but has a lower glycemic index than the artificial syrup (made with high frustose corn syrup) and tastes much better than the artificial and the almost real syrup.
My son's readings after such a meal with 52 grams of syrup are not really very high.

We dont factor the sugar alcohols in any thing.. we use the sugar free syrup too.. just count the carbs.. no effect

We just count the carbs too. I have found some syrups that aren't sugar free and have similar carb counts.

We just count total carbs as well. Didn't know that sugar alcohols can cause tummy problems. Luckily for right now Dylan likes to eat his pancakes whole without any syrup.
