What do I do? Yesterday she had to have 2 baby teeth pulled. And both Dh and I fell asleep with the girls when we put them to bed. The tooth fairy completely forgot! She woke up this morning and came to me and said in the most dissapointed voice - the tooth fairy did not come!:(
Oh I am feeling like a bad mommy!

Your not a bad Mommy, you just made a mistake!
I would simply tell her to try again tonight, that the Tooth Fairy may have been really busy last night and that you bet she'll come tonight.

I think the toothfairy must have alot on her mind because she forgets to come to our house more often than she remembers.:o
Or say your hubby called her and she had to take a sick day...but she'll be flying again tomorrow!
Uhm, well, never had to use that excuse my self

Or that it takes a little longer for her to hear about pulled teeth as opposed to the ones that fall out.
Or you could just put a special envelope in with the mail today...

When the Tooth Fairy forgot to come to our house, she did remember to come later in the day. While I was making the bed, I "found" the money the Tooth Fairy left.

I did tell her that maybe the Dentist had so much paperwork and forgot to get the memo to the tooth fairy . . .that seemed to work - but - i just felt so bad.:o I like the envelop in the mail thing! I might have to do that! Thanks!

When teeth are pulled I told my kids the tooth Fairy doesn't take them.. Those are special teeth since they were so brave to have the dentist pull them. Put the money on the floor on the head board side (if you haven't already looked for it) and say oh silly it fell off the bed while you were sleeping.LOL
I did this just same thing last week, as my dd had 2 teeth pulled and her brother went to look under the pillow in the morning and said awwww the tooth fairy didn't leave you any money and left the teeth.. A HA HA. DD knows who the tooth fairy is..So I went in the room with handfull of bills and said Its right here..

I've done most of what's been suggested. Delay in paperwork for pulled teeth is usually a good one - I used to tell the kids that once a tooth gets wiggly the tooth fairy pencils you into her schedule and if the tooth comes out before or after what she anticipates sometimes she doesn't hear about it right away.
I've also done "oh silly, the money is right here on the floor/stuck in your covers/tucked into your pillowcase"

I was a terrible mom. The tooth fairy forgot at our house a lot. I used to tell the girls she was on strike.

So we're not the only ones that happens to!?!? The last time Emma lost a tooth, the tooth fairy forgot to visit her 2 days in a row!!!! OMG! On the third night Emma got a whole page written by the tooth fairy apologizing because she was so busy and even tried to put the blame on Emma's parents!! Her boss must be upset that he can't hire good dependable tooth fairies. Back when I was a kid, I always got my loot for each tooth that fell out!! (or got ripped out) Maybe the tooth fairy is getting too old?

Have you got any international coins?
Have the toothfairy leave those with a couple of extra coins and a note about her travels. Maybe she got held up by a herd of elephants in Africa, or helping a baby kangaroo in Australia, or she was stuck in a no fly zone in the carribean.

Let's see, our tooth fairy is VERY unreliable. So far:
Too much snow
Too cold
Raining
Sick
Running behind, lots of kids lost teeth that day
Oden (our boxer) wouldn't let her in
The cat scared her, she was never told we got a new one.
For some reason my girls tend to lose teeth in the winter so the tooth fairy tends to get held up a lot by our Iowa winters
She also tends to forget more than one day in a row :o

HEY!!!!!!!!!!! It's tough to be a fairy, o.k.? We get tired, we're old, we have family responsibilities. Some nights we can't get to every stop like we did when we were younger. Besides that, I know Toothie, and trust me when I say that she has developed a little bit of attitude due to the current economic problems. Its really draining her supply of quarters. She has had to ration.
This has happen to me before. I just look around the bed and say " look the money must have feel on the floor when she flew away";)

I've done that before, you could just tell her the tooth fairy must have had a LOT of houses to get to last night...Maybe it's there now? "Let's check it again, maybe she came while you were at school";)

She forgot for a week here once. I told dd it was because her room was too untidy. She'd only come to tidy rooms.

Glad I am not alone - she (the tooth fairy) happened to come in this evening while willow was out playing with a neighbor after the tooth fairy was able to break a 20 on the pizza delivery guy! LOL
We went and took the friend home a while later and when we got back she found the $. She was so happy and was so surprised that the fairy was able to come in without her seeing! :)
I don;t know about you all - but what is the going rate. Our fairy usually does $1/tooth. But recently Willow learned that the neighbors fairy gives out $20 bills! Another friend from school got 50 . . .dollars!! for her front teeth! Geez!

We always got what T.F. thought the tooth was worth. For the tooth that hung by a thread for a day or so until we scrunched up the courage to pull it was only worth a handful of nickels, pennies, and dimes. For regular pulls it was stuff like 4 new shiny quarters (like when they first started making the state quarters, four of the newest), a gold dollar, but the real thing that my brother and I prized were the few-and-far-between $2 bills. I only have one :(. My brother was a brave tooth puller and has like 4 of them.

Wow, I feel a lot better reading this...I thought I might be the only awful mother out there, at least I am in good company!
I once used that DD was sick and the tooth fairy can't afford to get sick, much to busy ya know, so she would come when DD was all better. Poor tooth fairy, she and the late night finger check fairy are some busy ladies.

Tooth fairy brings quarters here... 1 per tooth. $20???? My 10YO has never had that much at one time in his life.

My kids get 20c. One time DD lost a tooth when we were on holiday at my parents. My dad put $2 under her pillow (I didn't know he did this). The next day dd asked why the tooth fairy gave her more at Poppas.' I said it was because she thought dd deserved more for loosing a tooth on holiday.

When I was little I woke up one morning and realized the Tooth Fairy "forgot." I was old enough to know who the tooth fairy really was, but I still wanted the money. So I put my little tooth pouch back in my covers, ran out to my mom and told her I couldn't find the pouch. So my mom went to look for it, and sure enough it had money in it when she brought it back out.
I thought I was pretty brilliant.

Yeah...I was a chicken LOL. I was afraid of the blood, which is kinda ironic now.
