Adin doesn't get ketones easily that I can tell. But I am wondering if that will change on the pump.

Not easily. Just when ill usually.

Not anytime we've checked since diagnosis, and we've been through several illnesses.

I don't know if it's because we are on the pump or not, but it is just something that I've needed to check more frequently since going on one. Abby always is 0.2 in the am according to the meter, and rest of the day 0.1. When sick, she can quickly go up, luckily she's always come back down fairly quickly, only one ER (touch wood)visit for ketones and that was pre-pump.

Just one of those things with her body I guess.

It seems that Reagan ALWAYS has ketones at least every other day. There is not one thing that brings them on, and they come and go quickly.

Sometimes at 300 she has them, other times she doesn't.

This was true with MDI too though, I don't know that I would say that it is necessarily pump related.

We check every morning and he hasn't had them since his diagnosis.

Thankfully, Teagan has not had ketones, even when she was dxd. My type 1 hubby doesn't get ketones either so I'm hoping Teagan inherits this trait:D!

Emma has always developed ketones very easily during illness, it has nothing to do with pumping though. She has only had very mildly elevated ketones from a site problem.
I think her very early dx's and lack of a honeymoon are to blame, (at least that's what her Dr.s believe). She seems to be very "brittle" for lack of a better term, and will run high ketones anytime she runs fever. When she has high ketones she starts vomiting almost immediately and ends up needing IV fluids.

Once kids are beyond the honeymoon they are much more likely to develop ketones. The small amount of insulin still being produced during the honeymoon makes a big difference.
My husband has to be extremely ill or w/o insulin for many hours, (10+), to get ketones, so maybe it has a lot to do with body size as well. YDMV!!

We don't generally test for ketones unless Mia has 2 readings over 250 within 4 hours, or she is sick with vomiting and/or diarrhea. So, maybe I'm just ignorant to it :o but we don't get ketones easily from what we can see.:)

Ryan has only had ketones once in the 4 years that he has been diagnosed. Even at times when he is running high we always check, but always negative.

We only had a reading of trace ketones on our precision xtra meter once since diagnoses (Last Aug). This was this past Weds when Abby woke up and threw up 3x. Luckily the rest of the day I was able to get food/insulin in her.

I voted that my son doesn't easily get ketones, but I rarely test either. If he is over 300, I will check, but that hasn't happen very often.

Our son rarely gets ketones, usually just during illness. He is on Novolog/Lantus since being dxed in 2004.

Emily doesn't get ketones very often. Usually when she is very sick and her numbers are either too high or too low without being about to correct them.

No, I don't think so. Lia's had mod/high ketones twice, once when she had the flu (influenza type), and once when she had the stomach flu two weeks ago. Otherwise I think that's it except trace another time.

Connor will get high ketones very easy if his pump has a failure; usually during a night. Delaney has only had ketones twice; once with an illness once for something else...
