When the meter takes a long time thinking I am already annoyed knowing Alli is high. Does this happen with all meters?

yes, our freestyle lite does that sometimes!!! When Travis first had his "hi" reading the little thing went round and round and round and I was like "Oh, my, goodness........" And yup, it was "hi"! Sometimes it seems to take awhile though and then it's okay (like when we're testing my only non-D child! :) haha)

The freestyle flash takes longer when High or it can also be the battery needs changed. ;)

Not sure on the Accucheck.

We use the freestyle lite and I love it. I just wondered if it does this to everyone. If it beeps quick if she is in range or low. If she is high it takes forever, drives me crazy.

I don't use freestyle right now, but I remember when I used the flash, it did that for me. It would take forever if I was really high, and it would be quick if I was in range or low.

I don't think that happens with One Touch, but it totally happened for me with the Freestyle.

I sort of liked it because it helped to prepare me before I actually saw the high number..

We use the Freestyle Flash and it takes longer when high. I actually think the instruction manual says it will do that. I hate it too. I think, "stop, would ya?" Unexpected highs make my brain hurt.

LOL I feel like it is punishment for whatever I did wrong making me wait to see how bad it actually is.;)

Yep, I can tell whether he's high, low, or good by how long it takes to beep:p OH, we use the Lite

I have never noticed it, but then again, ever since diagnoses I have a 'thing' about not looking at the meter when it is waiting to tell me the reading. I just wait until enough time has gone by, and then look LOL. I know, I am weird......

Yes, we use the freestyle lite and when it takes to long I just brace myself for that high number. Once in awhile it will be in range but most usually not when the little lines are going around and around (and around!!)

Since our meter beeps at the start and the end I can tell the rough BG even if I'm not in the room. About four seconds is perfect (100-150), four and a half is good (150-200), over that is not good 200+, and anything less is really low.

I remember that happening with the previous meters, but it doesn't do it with the one touch. My theory on this is that different meters measures the glucose different ways. I remember reading somewhere that one of the meters actually burns a sample and calculates the glucose somehow. So my guess is that the more glucose that is in that sample, the longer it takes to burn, therefore the longer it takes to beep and show you the number. This is totally theoretical, mostly me flapping my mouth! :) lol

YES! That little circle spins and spins when he is high and when he is low we get a super quick reading. Strange but true.

We use the optium exceed (probably has a different name in the States). It counts down on the screen, takes 10 seconds no matter what.
I have noticed, though, that Phillip has more trouble getting the blood on the strip if he's high.
