Ray went to the movies with some friends tonight and I didn't realize I had no cash on me. It was already dark and I didn't want to go to an ATM to get money. But all I had was my debit card. So against my better judgement, I gave it to him. I keep trying to convince myself that he will be responsible with it but all I can see is him wiping out my entire bank account. God, I hope this was not the worst mistake I have ever made.

Arrrr! I'm sure he will be sensible. If he ever wants to be trusted again, he will do the right thing. :o

Most debit cards here have a daily limit of $500.00 unless you choose differently, mine is higher because I never carry cash, too much crime here!(I check my bank account for card comprise daily too)

I recently did the same thing with my 16 year old son..He wanted to go get something to eat with his friends and it was around 9 pm and of course had no cash on me only my debit card...So I gave him my card and let him go with his friends..He brought me back the receipt, didnt lose my card, and didnt go over the amount I told him he could spend.
I was nervous too..but he acted responsibily.

I have always done this with my older three kids. It always worked out fine. They still remember my "pin" and never have abused it.

If Ray isn't at an age yet that you feel he's responsible enough or trust him enough to use your debit card then I imagine you can always talk with your bank and they can probably issue you another debit card along with a new pin # and you can then destroy your existing card or possibly just change the pin # of your existing card.
