I need to find an article or web-site that explains Celiac, the need to follow the diet, and the dangers of cross-contamination in a short concise format.

I'm finding many of my dd's Sunday School teachers, co-op leader, etc. just don't get it - even after I feel like I've explained it. Of course, it is probably like D in that they never will "get it", but maybe if they have something in hand to read that isn't just an "over-protective" mom talking, they might pay more attention.

Has anyone run across something like this?

This article below suggests giving the teachers the book Kids with Diabetes which looks fairly comprehensive

What about using a children's book to explain it to them? Something like this one perhaps? I'm not familiar with what is good on the market.

I just checked out a book from my school library about celiac ("Frequently Asked Questions About Celiac Disease," published in 2007). It's a book for teens, but it seemed to do a great job of explaining what it was, need to be GF, and cross-contamination issues. They were in different chapters and it's not a website or article, but I could post some excerpts from the book sometime after noon tomorrow, when I get back to my mom's where the book is. Would that be okay?

This doesn't really address cross contamination per se but it is addressed to teachers and maybe they'll start to recognize the importance of hearing what you have to say:

Thanks for all the ideas!!

Nat's teachers have been really good about everything. Probably because since Nat is so young, I've made sure to talk to all of them and give them info. I haven't really done that with Alexa's teachers because she is able to be in charge of her own eating. Now I'm having issues with the youth department at our church over summer camp. I keep asking for the contact info for the people in charge of the food at camp, and I keep getting back e-mails telling me that "They always have several options to choose from." Thus my need to get across the cross-contamination issue especially.

She will go to camp if we have to send her with a microwave and a box of food, but I need to find out now if we need to go to that extreme.

Thanks for the help! Eating shouldn't be this hard:(.
