Just wondering, does your insurance company charge you a highter premium because of diabetes. We have a couple of years before my son starts to drive. I'm just wondering what to expect. thanks or the replies.

No, mine doesn't. (I use Traveler's) As far as I know, my parents' insurance didn't either, but that was a while back. I know I had a higher premium as a teen because I was a new driver, but I never heard anything about it also being higher because of D.

I am in Texas , so it probably also depends on the state. Texas does not even ask about diabetes on license form, at least I don't remember it. I have never been asked about it for auto insurance either. I know on the American Diabetes site, there is information on each state's license requirements, not sure on insurance, might be worth checking out.

I"ve never been asked by the licensing department or any insurance company. But as stated, it may very well depend on your particular state.

We called our insurance and told after our son's diagnosis - and no increase.
