Yikes, our first birthday party to go to since dx'd 12-4-06. I am freaked out because the combination!! I dont want to withold anything(within limits) and I dont want to worry for every jump on that trampoline! We know that pizza will be served. I have been bolusing for that about 1.5 hours after eating when BS just reaches about 180, seems to cover it that way well with no high later. Ok, problem 1 solved. Cake! Yikes! If Maddison even runs around the house alot her BS will drop ALOT. So, combined with a party at "pump it up" an indoor jumpy place, I am wondering what I should consider. Easy if cake is after jumping, I would hope. But, typically aerobic excersize sends BS up alot for us then down of course later! (no sleep tonight) Hmm,pizza, cake, and tons of excersize. Did I mention she woke up with a constant cough, sore throat and tummy ache!? We might have to skip the party since it is at 6pm, who knows what the day will bring? Any suggestions are appreciated!

When we have been to Pump It Up parties, it seems like they get 45 min to 1 hour in the jump room, then about 1/2 hour in the party room with food. So the pizza might counteract her later low from the exercise....not sure what to tell you about the cake and such right after the jumping. It sure would be nice to just let them go and jump and eat and not have to worry about it, wouldn't it? :(

Good luck!

It's called 'Bouce U' here...but, same thing. Haley just went to a party last weekend. I disconnected her pump because she was 'wrestling' with one of her friends, thirty minutes later, she tells me she feels low. She is 58. I give her a rice krispy treat and right before the pizza and cake she is 116. Perfect. We bolus for the pizza and just let her eat the cake and figure we will take care of it later. Two hours later, she is 300. Then, we corrected that. Just be ready for the low and bolus for the meal as usual. Other than that, I not sure what you can do. Oh, we had about an hour and fifteen minutes in the jumping room and she was really jumping!

we've been to a few B-day parties since K was dx.. I just try and keep track of what she eating and bolus after eating.. she has a slice of pizza, I give her a bolus.. she has a handful of chips, I give a bolus.. cake, I bolus.. I figure the exercise is going to take care of things that I 'miss' which always happens she usually ends up high and I just correct afterwards..
