View Full Version : Freezing Cold: I can feel it...

I woke up this morning keeping warm under flannel sheets, 2 quilts and a thick mink blanket. (The kids had similar layers last night too.) When I stuck my arm out I could feel the cold coming in to the house. The house is set to 70 but we can still feel the cold coming in. It was -14 with a wind chill of -35 when I woke up this morning. We have to go out in this today too.
How cold is it where you are?

I feel the cold as well. My outdoor thermometer read -21.6 this morning when I got up. That does not include the wind chill factor.......
I am heading to work, and don't even want to leave the house. They canceled school here, so the boy's won't have to go out.
My dh and I are heading to Cozumel Mexico in 9 days, I can't wait for the warm sun, margarita's, and diving. I am begining to wish we were gone this week instead.....

Minus 29 here this morning. Kids still had to go to school, but no outdoor recess on days like this. Fortunately it's not windy today.

-14 w/ windchill of -30 here also. Schools are closed....so we are all stuck inside.

So I won't complain that 40 is cold! Man, I would so hate to be in that kind of weather.. hope it warms up soon.

It was -8 here...and a wind chill of -31 to -32. Supposed to get up to +5 today.:eek: Whoo Hoo....What a heat wave!!!!!:eek:
My kids had school..unfortanetely. And Tresston has a basketball game tonight...it is supposed to be as cold tonight as it is now. Now I remember why I don't like living in Illinios in the winter.:(

We are not even supposed to get above -2 today. I am due to leave in half an hour for appointments. I am about to start bundling up kids for our excursion.

That's -29 celcius, which is around -22 F. When it gets this cold celcius and fahrenheit starts looking the same:)

brrrrrr, you all are COLD. We are sitting at a balmy 42 degrees and it's supposed to get up to 51 today. I was complaining when we got to 20 degrees over Christmas break (no, not 20 below:)) I'll stop complaining now. I just can't imagine that kind of cold. Please bundle up!

We are suppose to have a high of 0 today! The kids had school, I stood at the front door watching for the bus and when it started up the hill I screamed RUN so the kids could run out to the bus stop. It was just too cold for them to stand there and wait for God knows how long before the bus came. My furnace has run constantly since yesterday and it still can't get the house above 69 :eek: Of coarse it doesn't help that I run an inhome daycare and every single parent this morning stood in my door (with it open of coarse) complaining about the cold :eek: NO KIDDING SHUT THE DOOR!

It's -17 right now. I am surprised they canceled school, though. They usually just have the kids stay in froom recess when it's cold.

It is currently -12F here. They announced last night that there wouldn't be school today. I have my heat set on 66 and it runs about every 1/2 hr. now. I have a space heater going in the living room, too. I am too cheap to turn on the gas fireplace. :rolleyes:

It's a balmy 10 here in NH:D
Volunteered in school today and the kids are climbing the walls. I think those who are equipped should be allowed to walk around the building once to get the ants out of their pants! Those poor teachers.
Don't worry Wendy - it will be here soon enough! Like tomorrow - right?

It's -8 with a windchill of -28 brrrr... Tomorrow is suppose to be a little warmer, maybe up to 5.

Here in Manitoba the deep freeze continues.....
This morning it was -32 celsius and with wind chill .....-44C school was open
By Sunday it's supposed to be -2 almost balmy

We are at about 10 degees here today but it will be colder tomorrow. Only ten more weeks until the first day of spring!:D

I haven't had the tv on all day, so don't know what the temp finally got to. Last night on the news they said our high would be -3 with windchills down to 30-35 below zero. Right now it is -11.

Schools have already called off for tomorrow as well due to the extreme cold. It is -5, but feels like -33

Tennessee lost that memo too.. It is currently -3 with the windchill!!! The low tonight is 2!!!
Of course, schools are cancelled tomorrow. Our district has 3000 kids in "portable" classrooms that wont stay warm.. not to mention the poor kids that have to walk to school. :eek:

That's perfect Pittsburgh weather for the big game Sunday, maybe a little snow so the field can get nice and muddy.
It is 14 here now but the low was down to 5 with a windchill of -15. My dog doesn't even want to go out it's so cold. The kids went to school but not outdoor time today, poor teachers!
