Looking over the pile of gifts that will be exchanged tomorrow I realize that the ones that make me feel the most like Santa have been...
Giving the custodians at school boxes of my homemade pecan tassies.
Making up a "treat basket" for the man who rooms with my Dad at the nursing home ( my father is there temporarily but Mr Jackson has been there 4 years:eek:)
Shlepping out in the cold rain and ice to fill the bird feeder for the second time today. And being surrounded by grateful juncos, jays and cardinals
None were expensive or difficult yet gave me the most fuzzy warm xmas feeling.:cwds: How about you???

Inviting my friends over for dinner that would otherwise be alone.
Finally finding one can of my dogs favorite dog food that they quit making. She is almost 16 years old and she is going to be soooo happy. :D
Finding the "perfect" Hallmark cards for DS and DH.
oooh, I can't wait for tomorrow now!

I'm going to admit that i have a very hard time with holidays since my mom passed away 9 years ago. My dad isn't in my life and my brothers aren't either by their own choice so it's very rough for me. I have tried VERY hard to do things this year that have gotten me in the Christmas spirit.
In years passed I have been the family member on my hubby's side that is known to get the "hard to find gift" that someone just HAS to have! One year I had to have my online friends scour their malls for some "must have" shoes from AE for my niece. My niece had given up on finding them but I hadn't. Luckily someone in Albuquerque NM found them for me. :D It was a fantastic feeling to pull through for someone like that. I know it's a "material" thing but isn't it fun to find a hard to find gift? The feeling of happiness I feel is immense when I accomplish things like that. This year I have to admit there aren't any gifts under my tree that really and truly have me excited. There's a package that is supposed to come TODAY and if that comes I"ll be happy but...really?
I am anxious to hear about the gifts that others have gotten for others that have them excited!

What a great list! My mom ( I miss her so much this time of year!:() was especially gifted at the first one you mentioned. Thanks for reminding me of all the "orphans" she brought into our lives :cwds:

I gave the neighbor kids santa hats. The older boys got wood kits to build race cars, their sister got a kit to build a bird house, and a book for the baby. I spent an hour helping them build their cars/bird house and read to the baby. It was so fun to watch them get so excited. They were jumping up and down because they got santa hats.

I gave the gift of life today if that counts, it certainly makes me feel good.
I breed rabbits, and a female delivered today while I was at work. She scattered the babies and by the time I got home all but one were dead. One was barely alive, but I was able to warm it up, get it to nurse, and hopefully give it a second chance.
I moved mom & baby in the house for warmth, since a single baby doesn't usually stand a chance of survival in the cold weather. My fingers are crossed, but it seemed to be doing well when I just checked on it!

This year Christmas has been a bit difficult since hubby passed away in July. But today we took up a lot of jars of homemade jams and jellys to the nursing home where he resided. The residents can't eat it, but the staff loves it. They told me they have missed my bringing them treats all the time. I got hugs from most of the staff on that floor and it made me feel good and yet made me sad at the same time. I also found something special for Reann that she did not expect at all. She is getting a house soon and wants to decorate her kitchen with an apple theme. I found a clear glass apple shaped cookie jar at goodwill. Made apple shaped cookies and filled the jar and then gave her the rest of the cookies too. She was very excited when she opened it tonight.
