Hi,
We are very close to getting a pump for my 14-year-old son and have pretty much settled on the Animas, but have one lingering concern. I have seen threads on other forums suggesting some people are bothered by stinging from Animas boluses, which are delivered quickly compared to the minimed. Some say that even set to "slow" delivery (which I think is 1 unit every 4 seconds) it stings because each individual unit is still pushed out fast. The rep I asked said that she has only ever had two people complain of this, both on really high doses, and that their problem was totally solved with the slow delivery setting.

So. Aaron does sometimes get stinging from his injections, and injects quite slowly to avoid this. I'm just wondering if anyone whose child uses the Animas pump has had a problem with this at all?

I know many people with every pump and have never anyone complain about bolus pain.

Thomas occassionally c/o stinging when bolusing. Usually with a fresh site but it doesn't happen too often.
He also uses an Animas pump and it is not set for the slow bolus.
Good luck.

I too use animas and while, yes, once in awhile it does sting - it's not often by anymeans. Usually occurs because I put my site in some really dense muscle or just plain put it in wrong. Really, though, it's SO much better than the sting with injections! It seemed like almost every injection stung for me. the occasional sting with the pump is far worth it to me. :)

I use the animas and the only time mine has had the stinging was when I needed to change the site out
