Do D kids need to get a pneumonia shot ? The Dr. has never metioned it to me.:confused:

Sam gets what the other kids get, our dr doesn't give certain shots due to D.
Not sure if that was what you were wondering??

Ian's ped just mentioned this to me a few weeks ago and then called me back to say that, yes, he should get it. I told her I was going to call the endo and see what he had to say (course, I totally forgot that).
maybe it's a new thing??

My ped wanted Kaylee and my younger son Kyle to have one since they have asthma when sick .. not sure if just being D would matter to him. My other two children are not having a flu shot .. guess it is just a personnal decision .. my last ped wanted all my kids to have one.

I asked our endo about this a couple of weeks ago and she told me that she only recommends the pneumonia shot for children with D in cases where the pedi recommends it. So if the pedi thinks it is a good idea for that particular child, then she would agree. If the pedi thinks there is no reason for a child with D to get it, then she is fine with that too. With all the stuff I've heard of kids with D getting sick with pneumonia and ending up in super bad shape, I am tempted to ask our pedi for the shot.
